Which Hilton in Cocoa Beach?

Anyone have an opinion on these 2 "oceanfront" properties? They are several blocks apart. One is billed as a Hilton and the other as a Doubletree by Hilton. Thanks.

I've stayed at the Doubletree. No complaints.

We stayed at the Hilton on the beach this past spring. It was fine. Nice to be on the beach and a bit closer to "downtown" Cocoa Beach. But I can't say I would stay there again. We had a room with a pull out sofa, because we needed it, and it was unusable- old, worn, springs-no padding.

^ Exactly. The hotel is perfectly serviceable, but it badly needs some rehab/renovations. It suffers in comparison to the Doubletree.

That's the one. Professional photographers can make just about anything look good. However, it's possible they've done a rehab since 2012.

If it's still as I experienced it, it's not horrible or anything. Nothing was dirty or gross, but the furniture, the fixtures, the carpets/drapes all just had that look of being well-worn and in need of replacement. My wife and I both thought the hotel looked like it had been built in 1983 and never renovated since. We switched to the Doubletree, which is both nicer and cheaper, the following year and never looked back.

Again, the Hilton is fine for a place to crash the night before a cruise, but you might find the Doubletree a better value.

I have the Hilton booked for the night before my cruise in January. I thought in general Hilton was better than Doubletree. I'm using HHonors points and the Doubletree is 10,000 more points, I guess that tells you which one the Hilton brand thinks is better...We will be getting in about 9 pm the night before the cruise. I hope it will be fine for 12 hours.

I think at this point I am stuck at the Hilton. I can't get into the Doubletree. It's my own fault for waiting until this week to book a spring break cruise.

I stayed at the Hilton in 2011 and it was fine but a little worn and there weren't any balconies. It was clean, and the lounge was nice to hang out in. The beach and the price I paid was the major selling point for me.

@Mommytok & @MamaBear58 - Seriously, it'll be fine. The Hilton is not bad; it's clean, the staff was friendly, great location on the beach. The rooms just need rehabs, like rooms at WDW need rehabs every so often (did anyone think that the Beach Club was a flop house before their rooms got rehabbed in 2013?).

I am a Hilton Honors Diamond double-secret-probation VIP member, and yes, generally Hiltons are better than Doubletrees. Cocoa Beach appears to be the exception to this rule.

I wouldn't worry a bit about staying at the Hilton. We were there for a night in February 2013 and we really enjoyed our stay. The beach was lovely and access was really easy. The room wasn't anything special but we found it clean and comfortable and the location was great. While it may be true that the Doubletree is better value at certain rates I wouldn't get stressed about staying there for a night. We were very happy with it and loved our time on the beach, even if it was windy and cool that time of year.

I would not stress about this hotel for one night. It was clean. Everything was fine. Beach access great. But as Squirk said and from our experience the rehab was to what I believe was the public areas. The room, queen beds-all fine. Some of the furnishings, sofa bed -just ok. I would not go crazy trying to change my reservation. However, for our family, we would not stay here again. We have stayed several times at the Residence Inn and I would return there.

I've never stayed at the Hampton Inn nearby, but that's another option if you want to stay in the Hilton family. Hamptons can be very hit or miss, though. I've stayed at some that are really gross, and some that are as nice as some Doubletrees.

We stayed at the Hilton last month and it was just fine. Very close to the port (we actually drove up and had dinner in port the night before the cruise), on the beach, and a great little tiki bar with a live band on Friday night. The room was very clean and comfortable and we had no complaints. Don't sweat it!
