Which has clearer water - Gulf side or Atlantic

We live in Texas and usually go to the beach along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. We want to take our daughter to a nice beach that has nice clear, blue water (not the ugly brown like the Gulf along the Texas coast)! We just want to spend a few hours on our way home after WDW. Would really like something that is not a huge tourist area - something easy to drive to. Thanks for any suggestions you could give!

I once saw a show on the 10 best beaches in the US and one was on the FL panhandle, of course I'm not sure of the beach, maybe someone could help out here
I'm no expert, but being from the East Coast, I'm sure the beaches on the gulf side are nicer. JMHO

definitely gulf side!

but in some places the Ocean side is very nice too.

You want a place where the water is swallow.

the Panhandle is know for it's beautiful turgoise (okay I can't spell and my dictionary is packaged) - blue water.

the Panhandle is Pensacola beach, Destin, Ft Walten, Panama City Beach.

there is a big difference in Pensacola and Pensacola Beach - same with Panama City - so make sure you are staying on the beach!

Definitely the Fl Panhandle.

Baby fine clean beaches and emerald water.

Perdido key, Pensacola Beach, Destin, and Sandestin are all great places to stay.


www.sandestin.com is a lovely resort and you could get in there for a couple nites. Check out the lodging on the website. Stay on the bayside for cheaper rates. This area of the Panhandle was a location that Walt Disney first looked at for a theme park many years ago.

Grayton Beach State Park is 20 min drive from the Sandstin Resort. This state park beach was voted #l beach awhile back.
