I am trying to finalize our Feb. trip planning and cannot figure out where to drive to get the groceries.

Can you tell me your favorite and how to get there from BWV? Thanks very very much.

We've gone to the new Winn-Dixie about a mile from Crossroads the past 2 trips. From BWV, go past Downtown Disney and bear right for Hotel Resorts Blvd, when you get to the light Crossroads will be straight ahead, get in the left lane. Make a left at the light, it's about a mile down the road on the right, right past a liquor store. Get a shopper card, they have many items on sale with the card. We usually arrive around 3:00, check-in and then go for groceries. We have dinner first at Crossroads (we went to Unos on the last trip) and then go shopping.

Ya, the Winn-Dixie is pretty close, pretty reasonable, relatively nice. Careful not to mistakenly turn into that ABC liquor store on your way back home :smooth:

Thanks for all your replies. I just got onto Winn Dixie's web site and applied for their card.

If I fly down and rent a car, I always stop at the Albertson's off Orange Blossom Trail and do my shopping for the trip. Then, if we need to replenish something during the trip, I go to the new Winn Dixie mentioned above. I got an Albertson's discount card while checking out last week. Same at Winn Dixie. The card really did save me quite a bit!

We prefer the Publix on 192, Irlo Bronson pkwy. It is West on 192 on the right side (north) a bit past splendid China. They have low prices and it is a super store. Better than the Publix that is a few miles east.

We always make a stop at Super Walmart on 192 - we find just about anything we need there and it's open 24 hours.

WE shopped at the new PUBLIX in the Orlando Premium outlets mall. On the way from the airport, brand new, clean, great selection, we were in and out in 20 minutes. It is right next door to a Walgreens if you need to stop for drugs...

For Publix on 192. Out of BW take a right on BV drive then take World Drive toward 192 (there are signs). At 192 take a right (west) and it's maybe 2-3 miles or so on the right just about the time you get out of the congestion and business portion of that stretch.

Thanks for all your replies.

Dean, thanks for your replies on my various threads!!!!

We don't really cook, I need to get to the grocery store to get diapers, milk, infant formula, bottle water, and juice, and some fresh fruits.

Based on that, can you tell me which one tends to have the lowest price? Winn-Dixie?

Thanks again.

For these items Sam's may be the cheapest if you can use the volume they have and are a member.

We've never been to the Publix on West 192, only the old one at 192 & 535 (I think that's the corner). Is the other Publix a better choice than the one we've been using?

Mike - yes - much newer and bigger store - I stop here on the way in to OKW (I come by US 27 and US 192 - not florida turnpike I4 - cheaper this way too)

Publix is my favorite - but I also have done the Walmart and Gooding and this time we will probably try Winnie-Dixie

I like the meat and fresh fruits and vegs from Publix - cokes, flowers or plants, things I forgot from home at Walmart and anything I forgot when I was at those 2 stores at Goodings-hopefully nothing because Goodings prices are higher.

One more question.

I looked up Publix on the web and found the one by Florida Premium Shopping Center, the newest one.

The address is

8145 Vineland Avenue

phone # 407-238-9924

Can someone give me detailed direction about how to get there? I tried to call them, but since I am not familiar with the roads, their direction to me was kind of confusing.

Thanks

this is not the one on US 192 West

from OKW turn right (Community Dr) when this road ends turn right (Buena Vista Drive)- at the light turn left - you are now on Hotel Plaza road - when this road ends turn right (Apopka-Vineland) - get in the left lane - go under I4 intersection - turn left at the light - there is a Holiday Inn and a Marriott - stay on this road until you see the signs for the Virgin???(don't remember what it is called - will find out) turn right - the Publix is on the left close to the light (big store you can't miss it )

I also like a way that I have been told is longer - International Dr 536 (Epcot Center Drive)- stay on it - (when it hits 417 turn left - this is still International Drive) - the first light on this road turn left - Publix is to the right.

this is a new store - I don't like it as much as Publix West 192 and I don't know why!

Spicycat,

Thanks for the reply.

I think 192 is the same road as Vineland avenue,

They told me that I will past Marriott World Center, is that the Marriott you are referring to?

Since we have never driven while at WDW, this whole road thing is very confusing to me. Are the roads there well marked? NJ's road signs are generally not very good. While in LA around Xmas time, I love their road signs, so big and let you know way ahead of time. In NJ, sometimes by the time you see the sign, you have already passed it.

no the Marriott WORLD CENTER - is on International Drive on 536

there are a bunch of Marriott over there -

Kissimmee send me their package - I will look tonight to what the milemarkers are around this store (it might be before there are any)
