We have only been to Disneyland once before and stayed at the GC as it was just my husband and I. This time we will have our son and wife, two grandchildren (6 and 8) and 18 year old niece. We will need 2 rooms. I have always liked Embassy Suites but would prefer something within walking distance to DL. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

well camolot inn was good, its right across the street, the rooms werent to excpicve, and I dont know if it would have a 2bed room suiet or if two rooms next to each other would work

try get 4th floor, 404+ has grate views of fire works

this photo is a bit dated and evidently broken, but

will give you an idea.

Best Western Park Place Inn is literally across the street from the pedestrian gate. i've stayed at both tropicana and carousel and as far as motels go, they're quite decent enough.

note that hotels that advertise themselves as 'across from disneyland' or 'main gate' aren't necessarily close as it simply might mean an element of the park is across the street but not that you can just walk across the street to enter.

We have stayed at:
HOJO twice
Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites (Parlor suite) twice
Camelot Inn twice
Best Western Park Inn once
Grand Californian just once

I would stay at all of again. The Best Western was probably my lease favorite - but it was still fine.

We enjoyed the Anabella on our last visit, and HoJo the time before! If you stay at Anabella, though, learn the GCH path into the park, though. :)

We always stay at Hojo Anaheim. They treat us great, we have never had a problem. They went over and above the call of duty when we needed their help with a notary and Fed Ex'ing contracts back and forth, and even called me on my cell so I could go to the parks, rather than wait around all day for my contracts to be delivered. They were awesome. As much as I would like to try other places for various reasons (mostly just so I can say I did), my DH always wants to go back there because he feels safe and comfortable there, and it's a good value. Their customer service has always been very good for us.

I like this link. Anything from about Mimi's Cafe to Castle Inn IS walking distance.

Okay, just literally came home from a stay at the Portofino. While this hotel is somewhat dated, the room was SPOTLESS, housekeeping was AWESOME and it took less than 10 minutes to stroll to Disneyland main gate. Its on the corner of Harbor and Katella. We stayed in a Kid's Suite that has a King Bed, a double pull out couch, and a set of bunk beds. . .Plenty of room for four adults and two kids. HOWEVER, one bathroom and only ONE SINK puts a damper on the entire stay. I really also love the Anaheim Hilton, which is right next tothe Portofino. You can usually get a regular room for $99 or less, so two rooms is about the same as most suites. The only issue is the $11 parking fee per day. Portofino parking is free. That being said, if proximity is your choice, I would stay at Desert Inn and Suites on Harbor, Tropicana, or Best Western. . .Candy Cane Inn looks nice too and has its OWN SHUTTLE to the parks. . .a plus with the ART system that most of the hotels have adopted. . .

We enjoyed staying at the Carousel Inn, directly across the street from the park entrance. Loved the location and the rooms were very nice.

Another vote for the Carousel Inn, we stayed there last year and it was very good. We have also stayed at the Tropicanna which was also good, both are easy walking distance. I would also consider the BW PPI, Camelot and Park Vue. A little further away but also popular are HoJos and CCI.

We have stayed at the Radisson Maingate, too far to walk with small children. We had to use the shuttle. That was our first trip in 2006, we were inexperienced. LOL

This year (2007) we have stayed at
Tropicana
Best Western Park Place Inn
Tropicana
Grand Californian
Peacock Inn

Tropicana and BWPPI were the closest to the parks off site. Peacock was no good, too far to walk. Grand Californian was the best so far but on site and can be pretty pricey.

Hojos is just across the street from Mimi's and is walking distance. In fact, I believe Mimi's is considered part of Hojos property as they advertise it on the Hojo website http://www.hojoanaheim.com/info/mimiscafe.htm and you can order off the menu from your room at Hojo.
It takes us about 7 minutes to walk at a leisurely pace from Hojo Anaheim to the main entry.

Since you will have quite a group this trip, I would still stay at a suite hotel. That way, you will have the option of meeting together if you want to in a private place. Hoho has a couple of suites also, but they too require a shuttle. I have seen that some folks did walk to the park from the Residence Inn Maingate. I think it too far for me!

My family of 5 stayed at the BW Stovall's and it was really good. Nice and clean. Free breakfast and clean pools, within easy walking distance, literally along the garden path - took about 10 minutes. Jolly Roger's was awful and about a 20 minute walk. We are staying at HoJo's next time around, I hear it is great and right across from the park.
