Which golf course?

No idea which forum to ask this in. Any avid golfers out there? My 16 year old son lives, eats and sleeps golf. So naturally, that's pretty much all he wants to do while we are at Disney. (Although he said he would go to a park, "just to make me happy so I can take some pictures.") So which courses are best and why? Thanks!

No shortage of courses to choose from. My favorite courses in the Disney area are at Orange County National. These are more challenging and more interesting than the Disney courses on Disney property.

You can also see what's available on golfnow.com. You can save a bundle on courses in the Disney area if you are flexible. The very closest would be the Disney courses and the Waldorf Astoria course.

My husband comes to Orlando just to golf ;) He, too, uses Golfnow.com to book his tee times and gets some really good rates - especially since he's a single and can snag a spot in a four some.

Some of his favorites have been Falcon's Fire, Celebration, Shingle Creek, Hawk's Landing, Highlands Reserve, Championsgate, and the Ritz-Carlton. He's played Disney but they are so $$$, he can play 3 rounds through Golfnow at a (usually) better course instead. He said he hasn't played a course yet that he wouldn't recommend.

No question that the Disney courses are by far better than anything immediately in the vicinity. The possible exception might be the Celebration course but you need to have a resident along with you.

I'm not sure what others are used to but the Disney courses are the most challenging. Until a few years ago the PGA held an event on the Magnolia course.

You do not need a resident along with you for Celebration - my husband plays it almost every trip and it's always through GolfNow (though you can book through their website, too, GolfNow is much cheaper).
