I was curious all the talk about AP, AAA and SMSM etc which do you think gives the bigger discount for the on site hotels? was going to book for next year but I thought I would wait a little bit and see what the boards have to say about the hotels. we were going to stay at the HRH

i have used all 3 of the discounts you listed.

the best discounted codes have varied for me the past 6 years.

some trips i have used a combination of the APH and AAA for my dates.

in 2011, the SMSM was the best discount for my date.
last year it was the APH with the better discount.

you can call the reservation number and the TM will go over each rate code with you to let you be informed of the various discounts that are possible for your dates.

i make my longer stays, 11 days, in october.
other times in the year, shorter stays.

i book my long stays far out in advance before all the code rates are released. i pay the first night deposit at rack rate.
when they become available, i call and modify my rates.
the money i put down when i first book is applied to my total hotel bill.

usually, the smsm rate is released first.

hrh has their own loyalty program.
not sure if the orlando hotel is credited for it.
i was a member of the original program but didn't pay the fee for the new program that started this past year.

Thank you this really helps me out. You answered alot of my questions

It can also depend on how long you are staying. The SMSM can increase in percentage for longer stays while the AP will be the same discount no matter how many days.

Like everyone else has said. Length and time of year all come into play. I have used FL resident, AP, SMSM, and rack rate (don't like too).

We were thinking Oct of next year and we are staying for 6 days then hopping over to Disney. we thought we would do a longer stay at universal

sounds like a plan.

hhn is a hard ticket event for weekends in october.
in the second week of hhn, thursdays are added to the event.

the studios will close at 5 and ioa likely at 7 on the nights hhn is happening.

some room discounts will be available but not as high as other periods can be.

hhn does sell out some weekends on it's own.

daytime park crowds are not there for the weekdays.

I would do Universal after Disney. Once you stay onsite with unlimited express its hard to wait in lines. :thumbsup2

That's what I have been hearing. This will be the first time we are staying on site . If everyone is right when we go back we probably won't stay anywhere other than on site..
