I don't know which hotel would be most convenient I was thinking about the Ibis as it is cheap, just me and dd

Hi

Airtours use "MyTravel" for their flights - MyTravel depart from the South Terminal. The "most convenient" hotel for the South Terminal is the Hilton (attached to the South Terminal) or the Sofitel (attached to the North Terminal - a very short mono-rail ride away), but these are also two of the most expensive hotels at Gatwick (people pay more for the convenience).

I haven't stayed at the Ibis, but hopefully someone will fill you in on how convenient and good it is.

The Travelodge is a little way out, but is £26 for a room. You can then add car parking at the long stay acr parks to that around what? £55 for two weeks?

Thank you for that information, I suspect the gatwick hilton may be out of my league, but the travel lodge sounds good

Stayed at Sofiotel in Feb & can thoroughly recommend it. Got a good deal from holiday extras & it was much cheaper than the Hilton.

I would love to stay at the Sofitel as we are flying from the North Terminal but at the moment they are quoting us £270 for a family room and we can get the Hilton for £189 (both include paking)

By looking at the rates if we only needed a room for 3 we would save £100 on their family room prices

Does the sofitel have a swimming pool?

I have been thinking we might treat ourselves and fly to Gatwick a bit earlier and have a treat stay at the hilton so we can use their pool in the afternoon and it will be more calm in the morning too?

I don't think it does. But didn't the Hilton get rid of their pool a couple of years ago?? :confused3

Yes the Sofitel does have a pool, I used it many years ago when it was the Forte and it was compact but very relaxing :) The Hilton got rid of their pool a couple of years ago.

We have been there within the past year and the pool had been closed down - no more pool at the Sofitel :(

OH thats a shame :( All the websites for booking the Sofitel show it as having leisure facilities including a pool!

Thank you for the update, the Hilton is showing a hotel, well may as well go for the cheapest option then

Neither Sofitel's own website, nor Expedia, nor holidayextras.co.uk, nor superbreak.com say that the Sofitel has a pool (some state that it has no leisure facilities at all). Which websites say it has?

Whichever do are obviously out of date - would be furstrating to think it has a pool and then get there to find no pool. :(

Try going on the ramada plaza's website - you can get a room for £51 a night and transfers to the airport and they have a pool. Only 4 miles from airport:thumbsup2
