Which floor is best at AKL?

We want to stay at the AKL, but we don't know which floor to stay on. We want to have a good view.

Any suggestions?

I would like to know the same thing. We just changed our ressies so that we could stay at the AKL the first two nights before we go on to the Yacht club. We have a savannah view but not sure if there are certain sections etc that are better than others.

We have stayed at the AKL on three occassions. Each time we requested and received the third floor. We like this floor because it is the lobby level and a good location to view the animals.

Both times we stayed at AKL we were on the third floor. We had a good view of the savannah.

We were on the third floor and I'd ask for it again. The third floor is lobby level, so it is just a few steps to wherever you want to go. I also liked not being too far down the hall.

For animal viewing, I thought the third floor was ideal. We were close enough to feel like we were right there with the animals, but high enough to have a nice vista over the savannah.

It was also nice not having to wait for elevators. If you do stay on the lower levels, do take the time to explore. There are some pretty neat perspectives from high up over the lobby.

So if we stay on the 3rd floor we would be close to the lobby also? We would like that. Also, Are all the rooms in one Building?
I would also like to know if there is a wing we should request.

to lifelong fan, are the rooms on the third floor lobby level any of them just STANDARD rooms or are they deluxe?? just curious, cause we might get to stay here near the end of Aug. i asked a few questions on another , i would love to be lobby level cause of knee problems, but wasnt sure if they were the more $$$$rooms. ha ha. thanks alot..........

We have stayed in a Standard Savannah View room all three times on the third floor. Each time requesting and getting bunk beds for our 2 DD's.

We've been at AKL 9 times and had all locations and answering this hard. Generally, there is a better chance of seeing more animals with less obstruction from the higher rooms, but for the chance to have animals just feet from your room (which we've experienced) you need a lower floor - and this is spectacular when it happens!...The problem is that you can't count on it happening, so it's a bit of a crap shoot.

But as long as you're willing to stroll a little, the animals are never far from your room anyway.

Have fun, the AKL is the most unique resort at Disney bar none.

We were on the Zebra trail on the 5th floor. I think I would have preferred a lower floor because then the animals would have been closer. But we did have a good overall view.

We stayed on the 5th floor last year and the veiw was pretty good.I then went down to the lookouts on the 2nd floor, you are at just about ground level and they are great. So I personally would think 2nd or 3rd.

We loved 2nd floor ---- very close to the animals. Arusha Savannah is the largest, and it's shaped in a big semi-circle. Zebra Trail is closest to the pool and is to the right of the lobby. We were near the end of Kudu trail which is to the left of the lobby and was quiet. We saw many animals, but it was a bit of a walk to the pool (not complaining, though --- we loved AKL!).
