My husband and I have been debating about purchasing DVC for about three years now (we could have had it paid off by now...lol). We would be most interested in either BWV or BCV. Are either of these still available for sale? How much are they per point? Do they still have specials for selling back first year's points? Is this worth it?

Also, we are booked to stay at the Poly GVC 11/1-11/9. We would love to put the resort portion of our budget toward DVC, but I know we wouldn't be able to get anything at BW or BC Villas for that timeframe. How many points would it take to stay at the Poly? Any suggestions on the best way to approach this? Also, we will proably be traveling during Jersey Week, so about how many points do you suggest for one week in a one-bedroom?

Thank you so much for any answers!!!

The BWV and BCV are only available through resale. Disney is currently selling SSR to new buyers. If you are really interested in BWV and BCV you should call the resale brokers and tell them what you are looking for. Of course you could try calling DVC and tell them you only want the BWV or BCV and see what they tell you.

You actually might be able to get something at one of the DVC resorts for the first part of November. Using points to stay at a non DVC resort like the Poly is considered by many to be a waste of points. It takes a lot of points for a room at the Poly. For example during the first part of November a room at the Poly for 1 week would be about 326 points while a 1BR Villa at the BW or BC would be only 214 points for a week.

Good luck.

The only resort that you can buy from Disney is Saratoga Springs, Now you can buy resale for BCV or BWV from the timeshare store.

It might be difficult to find and close on a resale in time to book anything for this coming November. It takes some time to find a resale contract that meets your requirments for resort and numbr of points. The process after you and the seller agree on a price andnegotiate the other terms will take at least a month or so. The contract has to get past Disney (which has Right of First Refusal for all resales), go through closing and then the details have to be entered into the DVC computer before you can call to make a reservation. My advice is to do your research and take your time finding the best contract and not try to stay on points for this year - unless you want to rent points from someone and try out the accomodations! :teeth:

To see what you might need for points, click on the link for the DVC Point Charts at the top of this page.

Best wishes -

Nope... not true. I just talked with my guide last week (or maybe it was this week) and he was able to sell me points at BCV. Not an add on, but a full-fledged contract with as many points as I wanted, $84 per point.

Well, I got $72 pp through a reseller, so why would I spend an extra $2500 with Disney when I don't need financing?

Call your DVC guide to confirm, but this is what Ricardo Quiroz (sp?) told me.

While DVC is actively selling only SSR, they sometimes have contracts available for the sold out resorts (they obtain these thru ROFR and repossessions). If you want one of the sold out resorts (OKW, VB, HH, BWV, VWL or BCV) make sure your guide is aware. These are NOT available all of the time- so resale is a more consistent way to find contracts at these resorts.

As poohnpiglet3 mentioned- the price is $84 per point thru DVC. If you don't need financing, you can likely find a lower cost thru resale.

Enjoy!

We went through a similar struggle. We wanted to go in November and use the points we'd buy.

One benefit of buying direct from Disney is that your guide can check avilability and book your reservation right away. Our guide was willing to do this. We decided we'd rather take our chances and buy resale (to save the 2,000). It took about a month from when we made our offer to close and get in the Disney system.

I'll note that when I made my reservations yesterday we had a difficult time for the week of November 8th. Initially there were no two or one bedrooms left in any DVC for all 5 nights we wanted to go. Luckily, the representative managed to get us a one bedroom and a studio at OKW. My guess is that if you wait to buy resale, you'll have a difficult time getting a DVC for several consecutive nights without trying the waitlist (although people here have reported a lot of luck on the waitlist.)

Good luck!!!

As others have said, you're probably too late to buy a resale in time for this trip.

DVC MAY be willing to sell you points at BCV or BWV, but, IMO, that is about the worst way you could spend your money. As poohnpiglet3 said, you can get a resale at either of those two resorts in the neighborhood of $70 per point. DVC's sales price is a fixed $84 per point for BCV and BWV. That's a pretty substantial difference.

Here's a little bit of an unorthodox suggestion. If you are ultimately looking to buy more than 150 points, you could consider making your initial purchase at SSR, then buy smaller contracts on the resale market to get you some points at BWV or BCV. If (for example) you ultimately want to own 300 points, you could buy 150 at SSR and then later acquire a 150 pt contract at BWV. You would then use your BWV Home points to book stays at more popular times of year.

I'm not saying I would go that route, but it is something to consider. :)

I agree it would be very advantageous to apply your lodging $$$ toward DVC rather than paying cash for a room in November. Given the limited timeframe, buying SSR may be the only way to accomplish that. And, you could use the November trip as leverage with DVC. Tell them that the sale is 100% dependent upon them being able to find you a room at BCV or BWV for your November dates, and I bet they'll come through. ;)

I'm confused about something. If the resale price is, say $75 per point thru a non-Disney broker, don't you have to add 12% on top of that price (commission) in order to know the real price? 12% on top of $75 is $84 a point, the same price Disney offers. What am I missing?::MinnieMo

The buyer doesn't pay commission--the seller does. If you agree to buy for $75, the seller actually receives $63.75 in your example ($75 less 15% commission.)
