Which DVC resort to book?

This will be our first trip to Disney as DVC members. Our "home" is AKV however, we would like to stay at BLT, but don't know if there will be any availability. Our current reservation is for AKV. My question is if we can't get a reservation for BLT should we stay with our home resort, AKV or should we try for a different resort like say BWV? We have a 3 year old that will need to go back to the room mid day to take a nap and we plan to visit all 4 parks. Thanks for any advice. Oh, I'm not sure if this matters, but we're going December 6-11.

I would strongly suggest you try to book your home resort right away. That time period is high season for DVC members to book. It is low in points, the Christmas decorations are up, and the DVC association meetings take place around then as well.

I tried for several years to book at BWV that week with no luck, even with waitlisting. I eventually bought BWV points in order to take advantage of the 11 month window for that time period there. I would call right away and book AKV if I were you, and if it is still available..good luck!

We already have AKV booked. I'm wondering if I do have a choice, assuming reservations are available, which resort should I choose?

My family loves the MK so my vote would be for BLT, if it is available. You can walk or take the monorail mid day for your little one.

You can also use the monorail to get to/from Epcot (by transferring at the TTC).

Have a great time!

That is THE busiest week for reservations for DVC members. Seriously. I don't think I'd even risk changing my reservation if I could. Unless you have enough points to book something else and THEN cancel your AKV reservation, I wouldn't let them cancel my AKV reservation and then try to snag something else. In that instant when you don't have a reservation at all, you could lose everything. It's happened to many people here.
