Which DVC resort is THE BESTto buy and why? New offer VS. a resale - HELP!!

Any suggestions convincing DH to buy in? He saw the recent mailing from DVC we received with a castle somewhere in Europe...He said he'd love to go there...I came back with...well when we join DVC, we'll go....I got no comment. I think he will cave eventually, but I would love to hear from those who have used points for other places...that is what DH would be most interested in. :listen:

So I have done yet more research and homework about the DVC situation. Call me anal-rentative if you must.... :confused3 So I think I have thie whole time sharing thing figured out... Tell me if I am wrong: Is it true that even though you purchase the points at Saratoga Springs, you do not necessarily have to stay there. One point is one pint no matter how you slice it. Also You can stay anywhere yu want with availabilty, the only think is that you can book 11 months out at SSR compared to 7 months out at other resorts?? :scratchin

:teeth: If that is the case - assby uming what I just rambled off is true - I will get a better deal buying at SSR (12 years longer), however it will just cut my reservation window by about 4 months for planning if my heart is to stay at BCV or VWL or BWW?? 200 points is 200 points no matter where you stay no matter how you slice it??? :hyper:

Correct? pixiedust: Thank so much for your patience everyone - I am not really that numb (well, some may argue that) just trying to wrap my brain around it and make sure I get what I want and know what I am getting.

Please feel free to contuniue to post your opinions and thoughts. Experience from others is all I have to go on at this point! And please post or PM along any pictures that you have of the rooms/villas, landscapings, pools, and the views at any of the DVC propertys. I would love to see them! pixiedust:

Well here is the BWV View from our balcony and the BCV Quiet Pool from our balcony.

Well, yes and no..."points are points", but not all resorts require the same number of points per night. VWL, BCV and BWV (non-standard view) are the most expensive resorts, followed by SSR, and then OKW. However, about 10% of the BWV rooms are "standard view", which run about the same number of points per night at OKW (not including GV's). These rooms go SOOO quickly that they really are an "owners' perk"...it's really hard to get consecutive nights in them if you do not own there. For Christmas 2006, people posted that BW view, and standard view rooms filled up on the first day of booking.

Have you checked out the "Post your DVC Pictures Here" thread on the DVC Planning Forum? http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=996898

allearsnet.com has lots of photos of DVC resorts: http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/dvc.htm

Try tagrel's site for some great photo tours of a couple of DVC resorts.

The DVC site has 360 degree room tours of all the resorts: www.disneyvacationclub.com

Thanks so much for introducing me to that site! I spent some time last night looking at all the rooms at all resorts! How fun! It has definatly helped me get closer to making that descision!! Thanks again, everyone has been super helpful! :worship:

Last year (first year with DVC) we spent a week each at OKW (Jan), BCV (May/June), VWL (Aug), BWV (Dec). We loved all the resorts for different reasons and would be happy to stay any of those places again. One thing we did figure out though is we prefer the "resort" feel more at places other than OKW--the atmosphere, action and ambience of the main lobby, etc. But then again the point value at OKW is great. We just added on at BWV to make use of the standard points there. Really liked the fact that you could walk to both MGM and Epcot. We now have two smaller contracts at BWV and one larger one at BCV....the best of all worlds IMO.

DH and I bought into DVC pretty much sight unseen. In addition to reading hundreds of posts here on the DVC boards, I used the websites I listed to see what the rooms, lobby areas, pools and restaurants look like at each resort since we had never stayed in a DVC villa. We had walked past the BWV a couple of times when walking between YC and MGM and we had seen OKW from a Disney bus once, but that was it! The photos on those websites helped us decide that DVC was right for us, and helped us decide which resort we wanted to purchase.

Good luck with your decision!
