We just added on the 100 points at BLT and took the 3 day cruise! My family consists of myself, DH, DS20 and DD15. With my son being in college we have decided to go during his fall break mid Oct (I don't have the dates yet but looking at the schools schedule from last year and this year I think it will be Oct 18-22. We are planning on cruising 21-24 flying home on the 24th.
DD will be in high school so I will have to talk to her teachers but hopefully we can take her out the whole week and enjoy the 18-20 at one of the DVC properties.
So here is my question. We have always wanted to stay at the Treehouses and were very upset when they closed in 2002 before we were able to stay there. DD and I have left over tickets that we can use to visit the parks but DH and DS do not. Chances are we will not really be visiting the parks (we really don't have the money for the tickets w/ paying for our DVC, renting a car and tips aboard the cruise). Instead we will enjoy the area and relax at the Treehouses. (There just doesn't seem to be much here - we would have to walk to SSR to enjoy the cool pools, dining, spa and activity center.)
OR should we go to Vero Beach staying in a 2 bedroom? I think there will be more for the family to do here. We will be renting a car and can hopefully do some free sight seeing as well as just enjoying the beach and resort.
Any one have any comments, suggestions or ideas?

VB might be a good option. I think you are still in F&W festival time, so BWV and BCV would be tough (but there would be more to do without hitting the parks).

There are nice places to visit around VB and the pool/resort is a very relaxing place. If I didn't want to do parks, that's what I would do pre/cruise.

The more I read about Vero Beach the more I am leaning toward staying here. It seems like there is a lot to see and do. Thank you.

Just wanted to clarify..... we recieved the cruise incentive too. I was under the assumption that gratuities were included. Are you referring to small tips, like for a drink? The certificate says "includes gratuities and all Government Taxes and Fees"

And the October cruise dates that you have in mind are from the 22nd thru the 25th..... not the 24th.... (I think)

:)

Oh I forgot that it said gratuities were included. So, I guess wont need to bring money for the Resturant Server, Asst Server, Head Server and Room Hostess :confused3:banana:. Great that means more excursions! Thank you,

We are actually looking at going Thur 21-Sun 24, 2010 (next year). We already have plans for this Sept-Oct with my sister for 2 weeks at POP:cheer2:
