Having a dilemma deciding on the dress. I either get a dress I like in BHS or one on eBay that is made but comes from China. I especially love the dress from China but worry about what it will look like or that it won't fit.

I am not normally indecisive but can't decide. Also the China dress is cheaper

Any opinions?

personaly i would rather pay more and know it fits and the cut of the dress and fabric suit me, that said my friend got a prom dress from china and was lovely very well made

Have you got a picture of either of them Rachel?

I am one of those people who would rather be able to try something on before I buy it - I am not one of those lucky people who can wear anything so would feel better knowing it looks OK before i part with cold, hard cash.

DD got her prom dress from China, it was beautiful and it couldn't have fit her better than it did. We just sent all the measurements and chose the fabric and we didn't have any problems! A friend of mine at work just got her wedding dress for China and again no problems, just needs shortening a little as she is very petite. Saw a photo of her in it and it looks gorgeous!

I am trying to put the pictures on, not working at the moment. Hopefully shortly I will :thumbsup2

http://

this is the China one which I want to get made in Ivory.

The BHS one is on their website and I cant pinch the photo - it is Julietta dress if anyone wants to see it

If you love the dress from China more, then I'd go for that!

I ordered a dress from China once through Ebay, and wouldn't have got anything similar to that on the High Street in this country for the small amount I paid! Normally, these sellers have lots of info about their sizes in the 'item description' so just check that tallies with you. And any questions about the sizing, I'm sure they'll be able to help you.

The only slight problem I had was that I have long arms. The dress was meant to be long sleeve, but it ended up practically being three-quarter sleeve! It was on my elbow practically. This wasn't a problem - I can only assume that their target market have significantly smaller arms :rotfl2: So possibly something to bear in mind if it's a long sleeved dress you are looking at on Ebay ;)

I too also like to try on anything before I buy it, but sometimes, with the styles and prices that you see from these sellers in China, you just have to risk it :)

Can't wait to see the pictures!

ETA - LOVE those dresses above!!!!!!!

I am going to be different here and say I prefer the BHS one - it is beautiful and I think it would be really flattering.

I am probably in the minority though - the dress from China is lovely too, I'm just not sure about the way the shoulder strap/flowers continue down the dress.

I think that both of the dresses are beautiful and very elegant. I think though if I had to choose one I'd go with the one from China. I don't think that you can go wrong with either one though! :thumbsup2

Just wondering if you have looked at Monsoon? They have some really nice occasion dresses which are made from good quality materials. I like the style of both the dresses you have posted but the BHS one is 100% polyester and it looks like the one from China is too. I'm just thinking of comfort- I try to avoid wearing anything made from polyester, particularly in Florida/the Caribbean! :)

I prefer the BHS one as well. Its stunning.

I couldn't buy a dress without trying it on as i'm such an unusual shape.

My friend got a dress from china it was pretty good for the price but was a bit ill fitting around the middle.

I was going to suggest Monsoon. Plus you can get them on Ebay as well just search by Monsoon and hit the new with tags. Oh and if you have a look on the tk maxx website they have some lovely ones that are not too hard on the pocket as well one which is looks not unlike your BHS option.http://www.tkmaxx.com/icat/5678

I have had the opposite with the china option. The dress I got looked stunning in the photos on line but when I got it the material looked like it was the stuff you would use to line a dress and it was very badly made. I get that you want to save money but be aware of false economy.

I prefer the BHS dress, plus it's in the sale and 5% off through Quidco. What is the price difference? Is it a massive saving?

I think it is going to be the BHS one unless I find another dress in the meantime:rotfl2:

I don't have personal experience of buying dresses from China, but my brother in law's nephew got married recently. His bride had ordered her dress from China months before but it arrived only a week before the wedding. When it arrived, it had been packed inside out with the sequins on the inside and they had plucked all the fabric, ruining it. The poor girl was heartbroken and then had to find an alternative dress. She got one, but it wasn't what she really wanted.

Both are beautiful, I'd probably go for the BHS one, just so I could see/try on before I bought, also better if you had any probs with.
