Which DLR hotel?

We never used the monorail because it doesn't start running until the parks open and we like to be early. But if you're not big on being there early and are going to DCA, it would definitely save a lot of walking. We did use it once coming back but that was at closing and there was a REALLY long line! I'm sure it's much better during the middle of the day.

Let's see, get to the DtD Monorail queue EARLY (like 30 minutes prior to opening), hopefully the Monorail is running OK (it is tested every morning), then go through security, and if you are in the first 00 or so, stand in line until the official opening time, then, and only then, the Monorail is allowed to leave the station (if it passes the ride inspection) and in about 10 minutes, you will be at Tomorrowland.

Sorry, let me walk to the main Entrance plaza, get in the multiple lines to enter the park after a large security check area (more gates, more people can be processed), and at opening, head straight to Fantasyland and Peter Pan or Dumbo.

Sorry, but I don't like the Monorail option first thing in the AM.

And of course, the Monorail might be closing for a few months to move the track for the new Eastern Gateway... Not sure if and when it will happen though.

So the special GCH entrance to DCA is a no go for most, due to the limited turnstiles and security check, You can't count on the Monorail, so you really need to look at the Main Entrance Plaza and how far away it is....

Remember there are offsite hotels with rooms closer to the park gates than all but some of the GCH rooms that can be had for 1/3 the price of DLH rooms. If price is a concern and you want to avoid long walks, they are a great option.
