Which Disney Resort would you pick to eat at on your arrival night?

We aren't doing a park on our arrival day because of the timing we'll be arriving and wanting to do other things, etc. Which resort would you choose to eat at? Which place? Thanks for your help;)

It would depend on what time I arrived and which resort I was staying at but my favourite is Jiko, and Boma is a close second.

I always like to eat at the Contemporary because it was the one thing that stuck out in my mind from when I was little. It always screamed DISNEY WORLD to me! (I mean, how could little 2 year old me not think the monorail going THROUGH the hotel was AMAZING?!)

CM was fun with my girlfriends last spring break, but my family and I did Ohana this year on arrival night and given our circumstances (my aunt passed away that morning) it really was magical. We had a perfect view of wishes and Ohana means family so it was just really special for that night.

It always varies with us. When I was going to Disney with my sister, we always went to MK on arrival day and ate in the park somewhere. Last time, DH and I stayed at the GF, and ordered room service on arrival day. This time, this August, we are staying at AKL and doing Boma at 5pm on arrival day.

Aw, so sorry to hear about ur loss. That must have been a sucky way to start a disney vacation.

Our tradition is Chef Mickeys on arrival day - give the kids a bit of Disney Magic to get them ready for the next morning!

last year we went to mama melrose on our first night but this year we decided to tone it down and go to Maya grill!

DTD is also a fun place to go to on your arrival day if you don't want to do a park. There are some good places to eat there too. Earl of Sanwich is a great CS place. I have also read great things about Wolfgang Puck Express (CS - we plan on going here on our next trip) and Raglan Road (TS).

If I am getting in late, I would prefer to eat at the resort I am staying at. If I am on the Boardwalk side, there are so many fine restaurants over there and I would try for Spoodles for casual, The Chef's Grille (the Galley) at Yacht Club, I would probably prefer very casual after a day of travelling. If, however, I arrive in time to go to a park, I might venture into Epcot and maybe have an reservation at one of my fave restaurants.

We like to keep it pretty casual for our first night. Normally Boma, Ohana, Chef Mickey's or our extreme casual choice of Beaches and Cream.

We've decided to do Hoop de Doo on our first night. We've been to one dinner show before in our lives and thought this one would be a great way to kick off our vacation.

We're doing Chef Mickey's for breakfast on our departure day ...

We're doing Narcoosee's on arrival day this year. We did Wolfgang Puck Express last trip and that was a nice option as well.

The last couple of years we have gotten in very late (midnight late) so we didn't have to worry about a dinner ressie. But other times when we got in late morning/early afternoon, we would usually do CS at the resort we were staying at or head to DTD and eat there. We don't like to make ADRs for our arrival day because we never know if there might be a flight delay or other circumstance out of our control to delay us getting to our dinner on time.

We used to do chef mickey on the first evening but tried Ohana to mix things up and prefer their food. Sept 20, at 8:40 Ohana...here we come.

We usually get into MCO later in the day. I have tried to make ADRs' and we have been delayed and missed them, so ended up ordering pizza when we got into the room. It turns out, we now look forward to ordering pizza and getting in some evening pool time. I just found out that my fav Chicago pizza delivers in MCO, and I'm super excited to order Giordanos. (Thanks DIS!!) I hope it is just as delicious as it is in Chicago! The deep dish pizza weighs like 10 pounds. (Good thing or not, it is really really yummy) :rotfl: We have ordered room service pizza from AKL, SSR, and POR and all is good. Better value though with Papa Johns which also delivers. Now we are excited to try Giordannos!

Good luck with your choice!

We're usually at WDW in the morning after taking a 7 am flight down - so by dinner time we're usually falling asleep in our food. We stay at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge - and always have our first dinner at Artist Point on arrival day. It's quieter, we can usually get a dinner ressie at an earlier time - and then stumble back to the room (after having a few chocolatini's in the lounge of course!:rolleyes1) Artist Point is a great restaurant - we love it!

I am also looking for a recommendation for our first night (actually it will be the first night DH can join us). I have heard Jiko or Konas for the excellent food, or Chef Mickey or Calif. Grill for atmosphere. It will be me, DH, DS10. I was considering the Luau but the bad reviews have scared me off. I would love to see fireworks, have some Dis magic, and some decent food. TIA for any suggestions of places with any or all of those qualities.
