We are planning a 4 day trip in March and we want to use our DVC pts. Which resort do you like the best and why? Which has the best concierge or are they the same? How about distance to the parks? Any info would be great. We have never been to DL so I don't know anything about the resorts or even the parks! Can't wait!!

Thanks!!!

I have never stayed here, but I would reccomend Grand Californian Resort and Spa. I hear its just like the Wilderness Lodge at WDW.
It has its own private entrance to California Adventure park and the lobby is just breathtaking. There is a huge fireplace, and a bunch of sofas scattered around that look really comfy! From those I know that have stayed there, I have heard nothing but good reviews.
The hotel also has a great sit down restaurant called "Story Tellers Cafe." The food is really good and it has a cool atmosphere.
I believe it also has an entrance to Downtown Disney, considering many of the rooms look out onto it. Its extremely close to the main entrance plaza of Disneyland also. :thumbsup2

I have stayed 2 times at the PP and our 2nd time at the GCH will be next week!! We love the fact that GCH is located inside the DCA park, and such a short jaunt to all of the disney magic. In terms of concierge, we did do PP a couple of years back, and will have it also at the GCH this coming trip. I am really looking forward to hitting the concierge lounge numerous times, as we tend to park hop a great deal, and will probably get all of our drinks, breakfast and snacks from concierge because it is so close to all of the action. I did not have a bad experience concierge at the PP, but it was really too far of a walk to get back there enough for the food part of it to make it worth while.

I have never stayed at the GC so can't talk much about it, but if you have kids, DLH is very disney, much more geared to kids then GC.

Although PP costs the least amount of money, DLH costs the least in DVC points. I'm not sure if that's a concern for you, it would be for me.

we had a post similar to this not to long ago and I still say the same thing as I said then...PP is more beach themed..not very disney except down in the lobby...GC is very beautiful and very upscaled in quality and comfort...however, I dont feel very disney there...imo, although GC is fabulous, I want to emerse myself in disney all throughout my trip and so I choose DLH as it is Disney 24-7 all day everyday...I just love it there...

A friend and I both have DVC, and we decided to transfer 50% of the points
to the other person to book the Grand Californian for DLR's 50th birthday
last year.

I loved it. The Grand Californian was like a resort that felt familiar because
the same architect designed both lodges (Wilderness and Animal Kingdom) at
WDW. But I felt it had a little bit of the Grand Floridian feeling in the lobby,
too. It was just beautiful. We took a standard room, and that was
perfectly fine for us.

It was very conveniently located to walk to both parks, and I would love
to stay there again in a heartbeat.

I like the Grand Californian the best. I just love the atmosphere and the decor and the proximity to the parks. If I wanted to feel more Disney, I'd stay at the Disneyland Hotel, especially if I was taking kids. But for just DH and myself, we love the Grand Californian. I've never stayed at the Paradise Pier, we just walked through it and weren't that impressed. In fact, we had it booked for December, but after staying at the Grand Californian last monthy, I decided to upgrade and stay at the Grand again.

We stayed at Disneyland Hotel in 2002 and were not impressed compared to WDW hotels. The only hotel that seemed as nice as the WDW hotels was the Grand Californian, but it is expensive. It seems a lot like the Wilderness Lodge, plus it has the best location. We had quite a hike back to the DH carrying toddlers at the time and were absolutely exhausted.

I'd only bother staying on-site at DL at the GC. Otherwise, I'll save some money and stay across the street at an off-site hotel. (about the same distance as the DH is from the DL entrance).

I've stayed at all 3 and I strongly prefer the Grand Californian due to location...location...location. You just can't beat entering the parks 2 minutes after exiting the room.

Definitely GC - since joining DVC in 2000 - we've stayed at GC standard view - everytime diff standard room - first stay was 2001 - was given 6th floor concierge level -next was view w the monorail but monorail still not going thru the hotel that time , 3rd stay standard view - was given room kinda far from the elevators but the best view ever - DD view closer to DL main entrance on top of the Disney store - nice view of the fireworks!
We'll be going this Nov - Thanksgiving weekend - to use up our banked pts this time we chose DCA view -
Location - can't go wrong w GC - entrance to DCA from the hotel - DD through another gate - very convenient

Another vote for GC! Stayed there twice in the past year and a half, once with points and the other with cash, and in both cases enjoyed it immensely! Like the previous posters have stated, you just can't beat the location. :thumbsup2
