I am looking for which deluxe rooms have been most recently refurbed. Which are the cleanest, etc...

I am driving myself nuts trying to decide between AKL-club level, Poly-garden, YC or BC...

Help please. We are considering a split stay.

I am thinking AKL villas and the Contemp? Anyone else?? I have not been keeping track lately!

Of the ones you list above, the Poly has the most recently redone rooms (I think the entire resort was complete sometime in 2006).

As for all deluxes, the previous posters are right in that the GF is the most recently redone, by just a few months.

I've heard BWI is the next to go "under the knife", sometime later this year.

Where can I find pictures of the new GF rooms? Do they all have the flat panel TVs?

Go the GF FAQ thread to check out pictures. You can see some room pics in post #84 on this page: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1629507&page=6

With the refurbishment, all rooms now look the same (no more individual themes). The only difference you'll see between this concierge room and a regular room is there are no DVD players outside of concierge.

All rooms do have the flat panel TVs as pictured here.

From what I was told from a CM The CR's rooms were completely redone~ Carpet, drapes, beds and paint. I was in the Poly in November and I had issues with my room..musty and smoke smell..it could have been caused from the people who previously stayed in the room..they washed the rugs..which were wet for 2 days of my stay..GROSS :scared1: BUT to be fair my MIL and Brother in Law's rooms were fine....I decided for my trip to WDW in August to do the CR in a MK view..I am all about the views...;)

of the ones you listed, AKL, YC and BC have not been refurbished with the flat panel tv's and new headboards, drapes/bed linens, etc.

The refurbished (w/flat panel tv) resorts are:

GF
Poly
CR
WL

AKL-club level has flat panel TVs. We love this resort. AKL club level is about the same price as the Poly garden view, but we really feel like we want something new. We don't really want to spend more than 450.00 a night for anything.
But if I am paying 350.00-450.00 a night. I want a really nice hotel and to feel like I am getting what I pay for.

The grounds of the Poly seems great, but even with the new rooms, I am not in love them. I read the elevators and hallways are still very dated and worn. Anyone add to that? Also, no hottub and the bathroom sink is with the toilet.

We actually stayed at the GF many years ago for 3 nights and thought it was great, but at the time, we were young and we thought we would never have the money to spend to stay there again.
Now, my tastes are a little more specific.

The CR bathrooms are not that great after the remodle either.
I hate how the Poly bathrooms dont have a fan in them.

We just stayed in GF in January. All rooms were refurbed. TVs were flat-screen. Decor in rooms was toned-down--colors and patterns.

Yeah I saw those they are fairly new. I stayed concierge at the YC in Dec and it was still the old TVs.

If I remember correctly, Tokelau and Rapa Nui are the newest longhouses. So not only are they the most updated, but the rooms are larger. I know Tokelau is new, but I can't remember if Rapa Nui is the second one or not.

We stayed at the CR, GF, and Poly (split stay - sorry no AKL but we'll be there in July, yeah!)in January and really liked them all for different reasons. But, overall, the resort that felt the most newly renovated from the hallways to the rooms IMO was the GF. The hallways had new carpets, wallpaper and paint and our rooms had been totally redone. The buildings even smelled "new" (this chemical smell may bother some people but I would think it would be gone by this summer) and when we were there they were replacing the floor in the lobby. So if you are basing your choice entirely on which resort feels the most recently renovated I would say stay at the GF. Our personal favorite as a family was the Poly and all three resorts have renovated rooms though so it's a tough (but FUN!) choice. Good luck!

I did alot of Picture looking for the nicest, prettiest room....and In my opinion it was Contemporary-- I have never stayed there, but after looking thru hundreds of pics I found it to fit my tastes. SO we booked it- Will be there this September with a MK view!
Good luck- let us know what you decide!:goodvibes

I could not agree more~ It's like I wrote that statement! :rotfl: The elevators are tiny and outdated they could not hold my family of 5...we are all thin and fit (3 kids 9, 7 and 6)...it was ridiculous....and I did not even have a stroller! The hallways were dark and dated..and the bathroom was a joke if you have 5 people in your family! My next trip will be at The CR..MK view ;)
