DH and I will be celebrating our 20th anniversary in 2007 and we wanted to stay at a deluxe resort for a "2nd honeymoon." We honeymooned at WDW. So, do we bite the bullet and stay at the GF (where I've always wanted to stay..no so sure now with the negative reviews though) or stay at one of the other resorts. DH wants to stay at a monorail resort. TIA!!!!

Stay where you've always wanted to stay and have a great time. There is not a resort at WDW that doesn't have a negative review or two. pirate:

If you can swing the cost, I'd go for the GF. I think there are just as many positive reviews as there are negative ones, and many with positive experiences don't post.

Honestly, I would love to stay at the GF if I could afford it. I know, you see my signature - Polynesian concierge, could totally afford standard rooms at GF, but this trip wasn't my choice to make...

I could care less about people's negative reviews. There is a negative review about every resort out there. The Poly has a lot of negative reviews and I'm still looking forward to my time there.

Thanks everyone! We're used to staying at the moderates so this will be a treat. I guess I'll listen to my inner-child and stay at the GF unless we go broke between now and then...LOL!

The Polynesian has a great new honeymoon suite (one of the newest rooms on Disney Property). With that said if you are set on going to the GF than do it. Don’t mind bad reviews. That does not mean you will have a bad time or the same thing will happen to you.

Aloha

Steve

Go for the Contemporary, in the Tower, with a view of the Castle changing colors all night long... :wizard: ...how can you beat that?

I have only stayed at the Poly (very nice), but have visisted the GF and CR. We love the Epcot resort are, but if we returned to the MK area, it would be GF or WL.

Mark ~ You've given me an idea about the honeymoon suite at Poly. ;)

Thanks everyone for your opinions & info! It really does help.

Don't forget the Deluxe hotels in the Epcot resort area. The Yacht club, Beach club, and Boardwalk are fabulous resorts. Being able to walk or boat to Epcot and the Studios is a major plus. Also the Epcot resort area has so many great restaurants to choose from.
We were at the Boardwalk last month in a standard room. It had a great view of a quiet courtyard. But the best was watching the Epcot fireworks from our beds.

I think all three monorail resorts are special but follow your heart.

And I agree with others, don't let a neagtive review bother you. There are many more positive reviews for all of them than negative reviews. But for some reason, positive reports slip to the second page very quickly while negative reports take on a life of their own and last for days with people dredging up experiences from years ago. Or there is one poster who loves to bash the Polynesian. I think she stays there every few years just so she can complain about it for the next few years. :rotfl2:

Congratualtions and have a magical vacation. :sunny:

I think you can't go wrong with either the Poly. or GF. Go with what atmosphere you like most.

We took our kids this past time and stayed at the Poly -- and loved it -- plus we love MK. But a 2nd honeymoon (and I'm assuming without kids) is very different, of course.

I've only stayed at the Poly of the choices you list, and I absolutely love it (almost as much as I love the AKL)! But if you've always wanted to stay at the GF, then I say go for it!

Thanks everyone!!! DH wants to stay concierge at GF so that's what we'll do. He's planning this one, afterall. I'm a very lucky girl! ;)

Go with what you want and can afford. We did the all out honeymooon at GF and had a WONDERFUL time. Some would balk at the amount of money we spent, but we also put it off for a year to be able to enjoy it.

And the poster who mentioned that people with good experiences at GF don't post is right. It is hard to get flamed for having a good experience when others are saying how awful it is.

Thanks so much! I'm glad you had a wonderful time on your honeymoon! WDW is a great place for a honeymoon...so magical.
