Ok so we are still in the planning stages--
We want to do 2 days at Universal and 3 or 4 days at DL/DCA...but which days? We are planning to land Nov 3rd and depart Nov 8th or 9th (depending on air fare). Our original plan was Univeral on Saturday & Sunday then move to DL/DCA for Tuesday-Friday. Monday would be Hollywood, etc. maybe DL at night.

But would we be able to do more at DL/DCA on Saturday-Tuesday and Universal Wednesday-Thursday???? Universal is open 2 hours extra on Sat & Sun but DL/DCA is open 5 more hours compared with Wed. Since it is off season I know some attractions will be closed but will it be better to hit some of the weekend days at DL/DCA? Will any Christmas decorations be up. We are trying to avoid the Veterans Day weekend crowds so leaving Thursday or Friday...

Any ideas would be appreciated!

I would plan on at least 1 weekend day so that you can see the nighttime entertainment. Fantasmic and fireworks are only shown on weekend nights during the off season. 2 weekend nights would make it easier to see both, though. It's possible to do both in 1 night, but you won't have the best seats for both, most likely.

Any particular reason you need 2 days for USH? You could easily see the whole thing in less than a day during off season.

For USH--I am not sure we will need more than a day but with a 2 year old you never know and the tickets are buy 1 day get 2nd day free so I thought we could do this before heading to the airport (LAX). We may hit Griffith Park or Hollywood that day too if we feel we don't want to return to USH. The 2nd USH day is pretty flexible...Do you think with hours being 10am-5pm we could still do everything in 1 day?

You should only need 1 day for USH. Crowds shouldn't be bad, so you should have plenty of time to leisurely enjoy all of the parks and attractions at DLR. Have fun!

Even with a 2yr old, you won't need 2 days at USH during the off peak season. I highly recommend more days at DL if you can, there's a lot more for the little ones to see and take in. Plus, you'll want to go back for nap times and you definitely don't want to miss Fantasmic! and the fireworks!
