Which day Christmas weekend?

We are planning on Christmas at Disneyland. We can do the 24th, 25th, 26th or possibly the 27th. Which date do you think will be the least crowded?

I am not the expert, but these are just my thoughts:

The week between Christmas and New Years is notoriously the most crowded, so I'd imagine the 26th and 27th will be packed. I think Christmas day would be packed as well, but my gut feeling tells me that a lot of people would be spending Christmas day with family. In the evening it might get more crowded, but maybe the day wouldn't be too bad? Again, this is all just conjecture. I've never been during that infamous "crazy week" :)

I agree with this line of thinking. I would avoid 12/26 and 12/17 like the plague, if possible! It just stands to reason that, given all the people out of school, work and free from family obligations in that week between Christmas and New Year's, the parks will be jam-packed. People come armed with holiday gift money, ready to spend!

Although the 24th and 25th might be quite crowded, too, I can't help but think that a lot of people will be tied up with doing family-home-Christmas stuff on those days. Not as many people will be available to descend on Disneyland on 12/24 and 12/25 as they would be on the 26th and 27th.

Keep in mind that on one of those nights - either 12/24 or 12/25 - I think the parks close early. I think it might be 12/24. So that would leave 12/25 as the best day. It won't be uncrowded, by any means, but if we are looking at the best option out of those 4 days, I think that's the one.

The 24th the parks close earlier (9 pm?) so CMs can be home with THEIR families.

Makes sense! CM's need family time too. That, and they probably need to start drinking some alcohol to prepare themselves for the massive crowds packing into DLR in the following days!!:rotfl2:

No doubt!!!!

Our family tradition is to wake up at Disneyland Christmas morning. I can tell you it is VERY busy Christmas Eve and Day. Crowds will be nutso any day that week, so just go with what works best for your schedule but I'm going with the 26th or 27th to be less crowded.

You won't get "less crowded" at all on 12/26 and 12/27 - statistically and historically, it just won't happen. Prepare for huge crowds or be in for a shock! There are too many people available on those days. It is a madhouse between Christmas and New Year's. That whole week is notorious for crazy crowds. It's like the busiest or second busiest week of the entire year. It certainly will not be any less crowded than on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

As sonnyjane and I were saying above, there is at least a small chance that some folks might be busy with family engagements on 12/24 and 12/25. Once Christmas passes, it's a free-for-all!

I just wanted to point that out so no one goes in on 12/26 or 12/27 expecting to not see heavy crowds.

There is rain in the forecast for the 27th so that is my vote for least busy of the busy but I am fully expecting to hit crowds our entire time there 25th to 29th.

We'll be there the 25th, 26th, and 27th.
........
We're nutso :)

Is it sad that I'm somewhat hoping there will be rain so people will go home?? hahah. DH and I are willing to face the rain for a less crowded DL. But we also have decided to have NO expectations for this trip. Because if its so crowded that we can't ride much, we'll still be happy because we're there for the ambiance.

You can tell its been a rough end of the year for us when we're willing to drive 20 something hours to go to our happy place on three of the busiest days of the year.
