Staying at CSR last week in August. I have been looking over all the CSR facts, websites, etc (Buzz, your website is great!!), but still not sure which "village" we would prefer. While I would tend to stay away from Casitas due to what I would expect to be the "busy" area, looking at the pictures, it seems to be the nicest. And while I think I would tend to naturally prefer the Cabanas, pictures of this area do not seems to be as nice as I would think. Anyway - to cut to the chase here - should I try to pick a specific village, or should I just accept whatever room I get? :confused3 I would hate to request a specific area, and then find a spot later on that we would have preferred. Also, my DW thinks I tend to overplan, and if I request something we are not thrilled with, I'll never hear the end of it. :rolleyes1

BUZZ - If you see this, I would appreciate your input. :worship:

We really liked the feel of the ranchos. Lots of cacti and it was very quiet. It's the farthest from El Centro, but not a long walk. We also stayed in cabanas 9b and found that it was close to the pool amd El Centro... :flower: You can't go wrong at this resort since all 3 areas are beautiful... :teeth:

I say take your chances. :) You never really know what they are going to be like until you get there. When researching for my trip to CSR in May I thought the last place I wanted to stay would be Ranchos. But when we arrived at check-in all they had ready were Ranchos. I was so disappointed, until I actually was in the room for a day or two. Ranchos was perfect! We were right by a bus stop and only a short walk to the main pool and an even shorter one to the quiet pool. It was also very quiet, which was great for DS2 afternoon naps!
As the previous poster said, you can't really go wrong with any of them though. They are all great in their own way! Good luck. :wizard:

Thanks for the replies - I'll probably just go with whatever I get - I may request a higher than ground floor though (better views and less chance of bugs?).

Depends what you are looking for

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site over the wooden bridge. Most preferred location.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. Some rooms within steps of the Dig Site.

Cabana 8b and 9a are inbetween the 2 above. cabana 9a has a quiet pool. cabana 9a also has smoking optional rooms so make sure you are clear as to what you will accept.

Cabana rooms are mostly waterview rooms or non parking lot views.

Rancho 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a. rancho 6b is also fairly close to the main pool area.

Casita 4 is close to the gym, spa and has quiet pool. THe casitas have great fountains and courtyards. casita 5 is close to the Dig Site with a good walk to the main building. The lower the casita number the closer towards the main building.

(ps - thanks for the feedback!)

I think it's best to take what you get. When I do that, I find that I am much happier that if I expected a certain area and didn't get it. I always feel bad for people that write that they begin their magical vacation by being disappointed. That's a bummer. Have a great stay. All of CSR is fabulous.

We have stayed in Ranchos and Casitas and we liked both but Casitas is our favorite section at CSR! We were there during busy times of the year in WDW but didnt find the casitas section to be busier than any other. Maybe in the 1st section b/c it is closest to the main area but even then I am not sure. We found it to be quiet and peaceful and very relaxing. But then again, all of CSR is wonderful!
