Which cruise would you pick?

We cruised in Feb and it was a wee bit chilly, even down in the Caribbean. We could/would not get in the water.

We live about 20 minutes from the port of Baltimore (and within an easy drive to the NY/NJ ports) and it is VERY nice to not have to fly or drive for 2 days to get to port...very very nice. Cruising out of NY was really nice, scenic-wise, too. But I agree that trying a cruise with different ports is also a plus (there is only so much of Nassau one needs to experience...we don't even get off the ship for Nassau anymore).

The only Disney cruise I have been on was the Magic and I LOVED that ship. We do Carnival and prefer similar ships to the Magic (not into the bigger ships).

That is a toughie. I'd be inclined to do the hometown cruise. I live 15 minutes from PC--on previous cruises I have left my house and less than an hour later, seated and having lunch at Cabanas. :cool1:

You all have given me more to think about! I guess I didn't realize the weather in the Caribbean in Feb would impact the sailing...do you think the water will be choppier therefore more "movement" with the ship, even one as large as the fantasy? Our May sailing this year had perfect, calm seas. In fact the captain mentioned that it was the best weather they've had in the Caribbean this year...so we were very lucky, and I barely felt the ship move in all honesty.

Do both you only live once. The Fantasy in February and the Magic in October 5 night to Canada (if you need to keep cost down) or it is your Birthday year go for the 7 or 8 night out of New York. This way you cannot say we should have gone on Disney when it was here in New York.

All the ships are great and this way you get the best of both. Happy Birthday

Donald & Daisy Duck - That is a very good idea indeed! I would honestly do it, and I have thought about it, but we're saving our vacation days. We have other trips planned for next year which will use up the the bulk of our days...I usually allocate only 1 week a year to Disney-related travel...and it is slowly becoming 2 weeks but that's because we did the cruise AND parks this year. :)

I second to do both. We pushed back booking the Fantasy so we could book the Magic to Canada, we have a problem though as we love to sail on DCL and some friends think we are crazy. We have the Dream this Nov, the Wonder in the Walt Suite for my wife's 40th April 2016 and the Magic to Canada 2016 booked. The Magic Canada cruise will be our Platinum cruise so maybe we will slow down after that? Something tells me no.

I would do the Fantasy, we are gping on the same itinary as yours ecept we are in April.

New ports and plus Star Wars... special merchandise and special day, can't beat it.

Tough choice, but are you drawn to cruising or to the ports?
If you like cruising and love the Magic: do the NYC and either stay onboard in ports or enjoy something you haven't done your previous visit.
If you really like to visit new ports and really really like the Star Wars day then do the Fantasy
One note:
These cruises appeal to me mainly because:

a) They sail from NYC and back!!
b) I love the Magic!
c) Don't have to pay for flight or hotel!
d) One day park hopper ticket to WDW included!
a, b and c: no brainer
d: why spend a day running around WDW while you can enjoy the Disney Magic? I really don't understand the appeal of this. Have been to the World several times on 10-14 day visits. I can't imagine being there for only a day. If you want to go there make it a multi-day visit. That would say something for the Fantasy cruise as you can do WDW before or after that.
Whatever you choose: have a blast!

Waggles - that is amazing! I would honestly do both if I could wing it...it is not a question of price as there is still a lot of time to save up, but it's more about the time. I have certain vacation restrictions at work. And it's my dad's 70th birthday next year and we already said we were going to do a family trip to Hawaii...and I want at least 2 weeks for that!

But maybe...it wouldn't hurt...to put a deposit on it right now....

JimGA - I am really drawn to the Fantasy and SW day at sea...and so is DH! so for now that is the plan...and I really want the special merchandise because this year at SWW I couldn't get into Darth's Mall because the wait was sooo long!

Silly Inventor - You are right, the one day at WDW is not really that much of an incentive for me since we usually go for at least a week...I would only do it because I want to go eat at WDW, hehe. Maybe my favorite, Ohana, or maybe I'll finally get those BOG dinner ressies that I couldn't get this May! I know one day at WDW will leave me wanting more...but we do plan on a few days at the parks before or after the Fantasy cruise in Feb.:cutie:

Also, you have been to the Bahamas and disney world. Go to the warm air and waters of the Caribbean

JimGA - The ports of call do appeal to me. We have never been to Grand Cayman and hear the beaches are lovely there. We've been to Cozumel but it was honestly about 10 years ago, but I remember enjoying it. I really want some good Mexican food...I cannot stand what passes as Mexican food around here...
...and Castaway Cay...you cannot beat that! I have never seen water so clear as Serenity Bay. I hope it won't be too different in Feb....
