Which cooling towels do you recommend?

I just bought one yesterday at Target.. They had a one day only 20% off coupon for them, so I picked mine up for my Sept trip. I got the Mission Enduracool one. I keep reading better reviews on these than the frogg toggs, so we decided to go with those. I have never used one before, so hopefully it helps in the heat.

We have the Mission and love them. Frogg Toggs Chilly Pads are great for sitting in my chair at the ballpark, not so great for walking around the park. They are heavy and get stinky. The Mission ones just dry up and weigh nothing shoved in a bag. Really love them!

Did not like frogg toggs. It was wonderful the first time we used them. For our next trip, they did not work at all. It was just like a wet towel, no cooling effect at all. Not sure why they only worked for one trip.

I completely agree with Frogg Toggs and cutting them in half.

We haven't had the mold issue and we bought ours 2-3 years ago.

For those who have the Mission towels do you have the Techknit or the microfiber? We have Frogg Toggs and like them but the Mission ones looks very interesting.

We use the microfiber Enduracool towels. I kept them in ziplocks in the backpack and rewet them as necessary.

I'm sitting right now on 105 degree heat watching my son's swimming class. We haven't bought a cooling towels yet so I just put a wash cloth soaked in I ever water on my neck and without it is wouldn't be able to sit here for the entire hour nut I have to keep pouring cold water on it or else it just warms up. So it's gotta be so much better with one of these cooling towels.

We have both the microfiber and techknit. The microfiber feels colder, but the techknit is more lightweight. I would say the microfiber is the better of the two, but the techknit is more breathable. Buy one of each and compare. One of my kids likes the microfiber, and one prefers the techknit.

Did you find that either or them got moldy or smelly?

Not at all. They dry fully between uses and have never smelled. Plus, you can throw them in the laundry to wash them once in awhile. Just don't put them in the dryer or use any fabric softener in the wash and they will be fine. Honestly, though, we have never yet washed the microfiber one and it doesn't smell. We bought that one last summer.

The reason Frogg Toggs get smelly is that you are supposed to store them damp. They are like a rubbery chamois material and leaving them wet is a recipe for mildew. The Mission towels you just hang to dry and they feel like regular fabric. They don't need to be kept damp between uses, so it's just like a t shirt, for example. It will dry fully.

Thanks! It gets very confusing but I think I will like the lightweight aspect better than our Frogg Toggs.

I just bought the Chill Pad and will be using it this weekend at Disney.

we read that they are too large and bulky. Do you find this to be true? Or is it not an issue?
Sorry...have not been on the boards for a few days, but I know mine is short ... not like a scarf ...and just covers my immediate neck. FancyNancy posted the one I have.

I have never used one before but there are so many different kinds out there. Which are the best for Florida heat/humidity?

I spent a lot of time looking at reviews..I dont like frog toggs for size and dont want something I have to cut. I bought the Alfamo brand towel to pre-test. It is 95degrees here and its working great!. It is nice and long (some are not!) but a silky type feel like a scarf so will look nice. wet it, wring, snap twice and cold to the touch. Keeps me cool about 30 minutes then a quick snap and its cool again. I love it! While not a miracle cure..it is not air conditioning, it takes the edge off. Comes with pouch and carabiner.

Any issues with mold or bad smell?
