I have two ways to get home from work.

1. Bumper to bumper traffic with lots of cars trying to pull out and turn left, etc. Much shorter distance.

2. Clear roads, able to drive 40 to 55 mph. Much longer distance.

I've timed both ways several times and it takes the SAME TIME for either route.

Which would you take?

Wow, how fortunate for you to have that option. I'd definately take the no traffic route, even if it was considerably longer.

I tend to get bored doing the same thing every day. So, I know this doesn't answer your question, but I think I'd do both. Depending on my mood and my tolerance for frustration, I'd most often opt for the shorter miles/more traffic route but some days if I was stressed, I'd want to just zip along.

Not really any help, am I?

I'd take the no traffic route...sitting in traffic drives me crazy! I like to keep moving, even if it takes a little longer.

no doubt -- longer with no traffic.

there is a part of our commute where we can choose to go one of two ways. it's great having the option because inevitably one is completely jammed up and the other is not so bad.

I'd take the route with no traffic.

There's nothing like bumper to bumper traffic to raise the ole blood pressure.

Here too!!

I would take the longer route with no traffic if I could.

For me, that's a no-brainer. #2 :) I *HATE* driving in traffic.

Another vote for the longer route. I do that often around here, only it's not really a longer route, but it's off the freeways so it takes a little longer. I find the drive much more enjoyable than the freeway.

I wouldn't care how much longer it was. I hate sitting in traffic and have to keep moving, so I would take the longer route.
