Which combo?

I am trying to decide which combo to take to DW in 2 weeks.

My old Canon 40D using the puffer on the built in flash with the 24-105 4.0 lens or the 24-70 2.8 lens?

or my Mark II 5D with 24-70 2.8 lens (no flash) I have a Speedlight but I am just not sure I want to deal with it. I can crank up the ISO pretty high but I don't know if there will be enough light for the character meals at night or other night shots even with the 2.8. I use a 50 1.2 most of the time at home with no flash but I don't want to limit myself to 50mm for the entire trip and wasn't really thinking about bringing more than 1 lens.

I am really on the fence WWYD? I am open to suggestions and variations on any of the items listed above.

It really comes down to how you shoot.

I'm an extreme flash avoider. At all costs. I got 99% of my character meal shots without a flash using a slow lens (f/3.5) on my 50D. I did pull my 50mm f/1.8 out at night, but my ISO stopped at 6400. With the 5D mkII you could probably get the same results with f/2.8 at it's higher ISO settings.

How badly do you want shots from the very dark rides (Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan...)? If those are important to you, I'd bring the Mark II, the 24-70 2.8, and just throw that 50mm in a pocket or handbag.

If you're content without those dark ride shots, then I'd think you could get by without the 50. But really one prime lens.... that's not much extra lens to carry.

I took my Speedlight last week and never used it, just couldn't be bothered. However I always had at least two lenses with me (usually a 28-300 super zoom plus a 50 1.4).

Hi there!

Do you do a lot of character meet & greets? I can't imagine doing pictures of people with characters without a flash..... especially at night at a hard ticketed event. I also like the flash indoors at the restaurants, but with the FEC turned back. It helps just to have that extra little bit of light on their faces.

I bring a lot of gear on my trips and then select a tailored subset for any given day in the park.

We do a lot of character breakfasts versus standing in line. But she was 2-1/2 then verus almost. Are you using the onboard flash or an external flash?

I bought the Canon 270EX this year because it is so compact. I liked having an external flash because it didn't need the time to recycle that the onboard flash seemed to need. Once you wait through the line to see the character, the last thing you want to have happen is to see that "busy" message on the screen.
