I have read that most character meals don't have Photopass photographers but some do. Can anyone let me know which ones do? We have reservations for Akershus, BoG dinner, Garden Grill, Tusker House, and Crystal Palace. I just want an idea for which meals I will need to be on call as our photographer.

from what we have found would plan on being photographer at all never had photopass at any we have done. we have done all but BoG dinner of ones listed

Tusker house and Lilo & Friends @ Ohana for sure does, not sure about the others - but I would take pictures myself on top of the photopass ones because you get more of the characters as they interact with your family that way.

Akershus- You take a picture w/ Belle before you sit. No Photographers inside seating area W/ other princesses.

BOG - yes, Beast only, after Dinner

Garden Grill- No

Tusker House- You used to take pictures w/ Donald before meal. But I believe they stopped that. I didn't think they had photographers inside.

Crystal Palace- No.

1) Only BoG has an INSIDE photographer, and the photog is stationary.
2) To have photogs going with the characters slows things down too much.
3) People want group photos and individual photos.
4) The characters could not get around fast enough.
5) This is from actual trial-and-error by WDW and the photographers.
6) So, bring your own camera to each and every meal.

With a few rare exceptions, save when there is a "host" photo before you are seated, there aren't PhotoPass people at character meals. Stitch at 'Ohana is an exception case for some reason, and I bet they dial that back soon.

O'hana character breakfast had a photopass photographer there in August 2014. We were surprised because there had been none before that.

BOG has one for taking picture with the Beast.

Hope this helps! Have fun planning!!

But not in October 2016, save for Stitch. As I said, I would assume that gets cut soon as well.

Excellent! Thanks for all the info. It sounds like we can get the entire family in the host pictures and Beast pictures and I will man the camera during the actual meals. It's helpful to know what to expect.

You can sometimes get character handlers or waitstaff to take pictures too.

The PhotoPass photographer with Stitch started when the stationary photo before you were seated got axed a couple of years ago.

We only had one at CRT before the meal with Cinderella but not during the meal. All the other places we ate at did not have any photographers during the meal.

At Garden Grill, a server did volunteer to take a family picture of us when Mickey stopped by. I'm so glad he did, because Mickey is of course a favorite of ours so I'm happy to have a picture with all of us!

Hollywood and vine had a stationary photographer for santa goofy at Minnie's seasonal dine
I went solo for my bday three weeks ago the photopass people at the table collecting the photocard or one of the waiters took my photo as the characters came around
I was near the front and it was close to the end of the night was having a blst with Donald and Minnie

Hand your camera to your SERVER or Character HANDLER. They can snap a picture of your whole group.

Bumping an old thread, I wish there was a PhotoPass photog in the character meals b/c my camera struggles so much with the lighting in those buildings, with the sunroofs in the center of the room, it tricks my flash into turning off and then the photos are too dark (except for the illuminated raised ceiling. Happened in Tusker House and Crystal Palace last trip. I don't want to have to spend our character time grumbling at the camera, "yes flash!! always flash" LOL
