We are visiting Disneyland for our first trip at the end of September. We have travelled to WDW on several occasions and have had dinner in Cinderella's Castle and also at Chef Mickey's.

We are 2 adults (aged 31 and 32) and I was just wondering which of the character meals at Disneyland you guys would recommend?

Are any of the meals located in a 'special' venue like the castle at WDW?

Thanks :)

I personally prefer to do my character meals at breakfast time as Im not too fond of the dinner options...the 4 options for that are

1. Goofy's Kitchen at DL Hotel

2. Surfs Up! with Mickey and Friends..Paradise Pier Hotel

3. Storytellers...Grand Californian

4. Minnie and Friends...inside DL...

my favorite of the 4 are a tie between Surfs Up! and Minnie and Friends..but all of these places are open really early

Dinner options are:

1. Goofy's Kitchen..DL Hotel

2. Storytellers...Grand Californian

3. Ariels Grotto ...California Adventure

DTD has, Catal, Jazz Kitchen Express, Rainforest Cafe and La Brea Bakery...

you can also eat at whitewater snacks at the Grand and my favorite Steakhouse 55 for breakfast...seeing as how you are like me and want to eat things that you cant get at home, I think these would be some good options :)

Storytellers dont do a character dinner.

I really enjoyed Minnie and Friends breakfast in DL park - we were also 2 adults last year when we did it

We are going without the kids on our next trip and booking through Costco, so for the free character meal, we have chosen Ariel's Grotto for several reasons. First, the food courses are delicious-- definitely more "grown-up" there. Second, I am not of fan of mimes/clowns/etc, so I prefer characters that actually speak. I love watching the silent characters interact with other people, but they creep me out when I nervously try to talk to them. Third, princesses over Chip 'n Dale every time ("I'm a married spud. I'm a married spud.").

Storyteller's Café at Grand Californian!

We are also traveling adults only (25 and 26) and the breakfast buffet is very good plus, the ambiance is much more quiet...

Ariel's Grotto has a character breakfast. Storytellers does not offer a character meal for dinner. You can dine there...just no characters.

Thanks for the opinions so far....feel free to add :)

We will have the photopass+ so am wondering if I should rule out Storytellers because there is no photo package available.

We are coming from the UK so may not be back for a while :)

DH and I going to our first character meal this trip- brunch at Goofy's. I'll be sure to report back how that goes. I was wondering how it would be for a couple with no children but decided to give it a try. Have to take full advantage of that Photo Pass Plus! :thumbsup2
