So... which is better - British Airways or Virgin Atlantic?

I prefer Virgin as you can prebook your seat numbers online (not guaranteed but we have always gotten the ones we requested), the luggage allowance is good and they have the checkin at DTD.

I have to agree with you there, we have only once used a different airline it was a cheap fly drive a few years ago it was the worst flight and crew ever We have always used Virgin

For us there really is no option from manchester, Virgin are the only one of the 2 direct. We took a BA flight to NY a few years ago which was poor but many like BA. I don't think there is much difference in the service just go for teh cheapest, Virgin are not what they were a few years ago. Just got back this morning with Virgin, almost 2 hour delay but slept 7 hours, only woke for the meal. We don't care who we go with we always sleep thru it.

BA wins hands down for me.. we tried VA this trip for the first time in about 10 years... i MUCH prefer BA... much better staff and better entertainment and shopping imo...
seats are also FAR more comfortable..and you get foot rests..

If there was absolutely no difference in cost / timing / convenience then I'd go for BA purely based on seat comfort. I don't think the service / entertainment / reliability / crew / etc. on any particular flight on a particular day can be guaranteed on any airline over another. Stuff happens!

Despite saying I would opt for BA from choice, when it actually comes down to booking, we have gone for Virgin more times than BA because of other factors, such as cost and Miles plus Money fares.

We're flying with BA in three weeks' time to Miami ... from Heathrow T5 ! ... so maybe I'll have a different view then LOL!

Not enough difference between them to make me loyal to either.
