We will be flying in to Tampa and renting a car from the airport, using it to drive around the area for a few days, and then hopping on board a Carnival Cruise. We would like to drop off the car at the port just before the cruise. Which rental company should we use?

Tampa boasts sandy white palm-fringed beaches and a multitude of water activities such as fishing, parasailing, and jet skiing . As per my opinion fing your answer with internet it's easiest , cheapest and most convenient way .

In 2005 I started my vacation at WDW, then rented a car from National with drop-off in Tampa for a cruise. The closest drop-off location was at the Tampa airport, and National had free shuttle service to the cruise terminal. Their shuttle even picked me up after the cruise and took me to the airport for my flight home.

I would book with the least expensive company - assuming they all have a free shuttle to the port.

I'm a little leary of dropping off the car and then depending upon someone's free shuttle to get me to the cruise on time. I have a habit of being late to things, despite good intentions otherwise. I was hoping to drop the car off at the port and then walking to the cruiseship. Anyone know if this is possible?

I suggest you learn some new habits! :teeth:

You would have to check each rental car company to see if they have a location near the port. I doubt any are within walking distance.

According to an email from the Tampa Port Authority, Hertz is closest at about one mile from the Carnival Cruise terminal. They have a shuttle to take you to the port after you drop off the car. She didn't answer the question directly, but the implication was that no, there is no rental agency within easy walking distance.

Since you will already be in Tampa, and your ship probably doesn't sail until 4 or 5 - I think you'll be safe taking a shuttle from Hertz or an airport location. I would choose the cheapest one.

Thanks for helping me out. :goodvibes
