Which car does this describe?

She's just relaying how the folks from Washington State are saying that the term "affixed" is being enforced. I think the wording of the laws are such that we, here, probably can't parse them and use that parsing to understand what those laws mean. They're likely worded so as to mesh with other Washington State laws and enforcement practices, and so there is information that we don't have to will determine what is and is not legal there.

could be, but the definition of affixed, is "fastened or attached to"

so if anyone is cited for gps that is dash mounted, they should definitely get an attorney

Any attorneys work for less than $124? :)

there has to be at least one attorney in the state that would take the case, just to make a point, the point being, the police don't understand the law..
{ the meaning of the word affixed}

or some wealthy person will take it to court, rather than pay the fine..

my question is this, the people claimiing to have been cited, was it for the gps not being built in, or was it because it was not voice activated and they were using there hands while driving..

Time will tell, for sure.

I just went back to your first post that linked to info on the law,

the officer they talked to specifically mentions the device must be affixed, not hand held,,mentions iphone and blackberry gps is legal as long as not hand held, so all you really need is a 10-20 dollar mounting bracket..

"Does GPS device use violate the texting while driving law?
Q: Does using a GPS device violate the texting while driving law?

A: Section 46.61.668 of the Revised Code of Washington states drivers can use a GPS or navigation device if it's "permanently affixed to the vehicle."

That means if the GPS device is not affixed to the vehicle, driver's can get a $124 ticket, State Patrol spokesman Sgt. Freddy Williams said.

Several readers who use a navigation program on their iPhone or BlackBerry have asked if that is legal. It is, Williams said, as long as it's permanently affixed to their vehicle. If the phone is in a driver's hand while the GPS is being used – the likely scenario for most people – it's against the law, trooper say.

People will likely argue what "permanently affixed" means. Bottom line, troopers don't want drivers to be looking at GPS devices in their hand while driving, Williams said."

That would be my guess too. The rubber sticky thing evidently isn't passing muster, but anything more firmly attached almost surely will, I suspect.

Bicker, if seat comfort is so consumingly important to you, have the seats rebuilt by a custom coachworks. My dad kept his cars forever (at the time of his death his favorite car was 26 years old), but he had the seats professionally rebuilt every two years.

Certain systems in cars have to be factory to be right, but seating is NOT one of them. It's easy to get custom seats. A good custom coachworks can upgrade the support and the upholstery to exactly suit your needs.

I'm not going to read the washington state statutes because I just don't care. But, the Volvo one is built in and it actually will not allow adjustments while the car is moving. (I hate that part)

I really can't believe that the police are going to be pulling everyone with a suction cup on the windshield. Surely there is more rampant crime to contend with than suction cups.

I'm just curious, what adjustments would you want to make while driving

2. BMW announced in march that they will be making FWD cars, and as far as mercedes, they might not make FWD under the mercedes name in europe,, but they certainly made a lot of chrysler/dodge FWDs under daimler/chrysler
Mercedes no longer has any ownership interest in Chrysler. They sold controlling interest back in 2007 and gave up the remaining 20% or so early last year (2009).

Daimler produces passenger cars under the Mercedes, Maybach, and Smart brands, none of which are offered as FWD.

The thought crossed my mind, when we were talking about there not really being any used cars out there as good as ours, except for the seats.

This is one of those marital peace things though. I only get one vote, and it isn't the tie-breaker. :lmao:

Decide to go someplace different, look for a Thai restaurant, that sort of thing.

It comes with a remote control so my kids could do whatever was needed. But even then, the car has to be stopped.
