Which buffet is best??

This past August we tried a few buffets.

Best to us was Cape Mays. Good price, and very yummy food. Plus lots of sea food.

1900 was decent food, but amazing character interaction. So funny.

Crystal Palace, was gross. My whole family hated it, and felt it was old and dirty.

Akerhus, the best part of our lunch was the cold buffet. I realize it's not technical a true buffet but those are my 2 cents.

You take a boat directly to the campground from from the Magic Kingdom. A separate boat goes to the Lodge.

We just got back from a trip to Disney. We ate at Trails End three times. Once for breakfast and two times for dinner. It is our new favorite!

Oh Yes forgot to mention to be sure to take the boat to the campground. Not the Wilderness Lodge. Then it's a one minute walk off the dock (marina) at Fort Wilderness to Trails End Restaurant. (Right next door to Hoop De Doo Review Dinner Show.)

Still suffering from WDW jetlag but will post a few of the things I observed with my family.

By far the Best Service we received was at Tusker House.
DH and DD were not to found of the African Flare given to things.
I would say they didn't care for the food at Tusker House.

1900 Park Fare for Dinner was GREAT the characters were awesome.
I didn't hear any complaints from my DH or DD 9 on the food so this receives a thumbs up.

Garden Grill had a limited selection of food but the food was Good. I thought the service was lacking. The characters did a GREAT job but it seemed unorganized as opposed to other character meals that we had been too. The characters were not escorted by a cast member that I could tell and were confused on what table they had already visited. a little unorganized.

CRT lunch Ok we had to try this once as it is a once in a lifetime experience eating in the castle. I don't think ANYONE cared for the appetizers. Our service was fare. Not bad but not Awesome either. Now my DH and I ordered the pork tenderloin and I have to say that was the BEST meal that we had so far at Disney(we later ate at BOG). The Pork Tenderloin was cooked perfectly. We substituted the sprouts and rice for potatoes and green beans.
The pork and potatoes were Awesome the green beans very undercooked and bland. DD ordered the salad and the chicken fingers. She seemed to enjoy. we had the cheese cake and the clock strikes 12 and both dessert were yummy. DD had the ice cream. Overall Good food. Ok service and very QUICK character interaction here.
This is a one and done for us.

Ohana breakfast with Lilo and Stich this was a MUST DO for my dd9.
The food was awesome even my daughter said it was very good. Served family style it is all you care to eat. Servers also bring around warm special character waffles throughout the meal. Serve juice and coffee and some bread with special butter. Service was great. My dd was celebrating her 9th birthday and she received a card signed by all the characters with a special photo inside. Time with the characters was not rushed and I really liked that a PHOTOPASS photographer accompanied stitch. Most of the character meals do not have a photographer taking pics with the characters. I was confused about that when I ordered memory maker. Overall experience GETS TWO Thumbs UP.

Hollywood and Vine Fantasmic Dinner Package. I have to say that our service was GREAT. It was dinner so no character interaction. The food was good. I don't remember anything that just stuck out as awesome. Had a good variety of items. DD liked the chocolate fountain on the dessert bar. I have to say that we ate a late lunch and none of us were very hungry at the time of our ADR so that could easily cloud our judgment. But no complaints here.

Crystal Palace for lunch. This was our very first character meals on our very first Disney vacation. The service was GREAT. They took very good care of us. Had so much fun meeting Tigger Pooh Eeyore and Piglet . The character interaction was GREAT. Tigger was to funny. Got some great pics. Seemed to have a good variety of food. No complaints from the DH or the DD.

Last but not Least BE Our Guest dinner. Ok let me start out by saying that Beauty and the Beast is MY FAVORITE Disney Movie. I looked forward to this meal the entire week. I was blown away by the craftsmanship and detail that went into building the castle and bringing the story to life. First I ordered the French onion soup and it was great. I had the shrimp and scallops for dinner then had the strawberry cupcake for dessert. Everything was so GOOD. To be a cupcake that was one of the best desserts that I have ever had. DH and DD had the steak and enjoyed it. Daughter talked about how good her steak was the rest of the night. DH got the lemon meringue cupcake and oh my goodness it was divine. We spent some time exploring the castle which was beautiful. Anyone who has visited BOG will know how important this next statement is. I was able to time it just right so that I have a picture of the beast when the photo changes in the WEST Wing. I did a happy dance around the West wing when I got it. Loved Loved Loved everything about this experience. Even have photos of my daughter dancing with the BEAST it was beautiful. Again this was my favorite to begin with and I left out of the castle smiling like a 5 year old. In that moment I realized just what the Disney Magic was all about.

On more than one occasion my DD stated that WDW had the best mashed potatoes ever.

Do not go to 1900 Park Fare. Horrible food! Cape May at the Beach Club is very good. Chef Mickey is dirty and food is not to good. I love Boma but I would not suggest it for picky eaters. Tusker House has basically the same food.

Boma is a good buffet. I would choose CM over Hollywood and Vine anytime. There is 1900 Park Fare. Tusker House is our favorite breakfast

Wow we were just there three weeks ago and 1900 was the best buffet we had all week (we did tusker, Hollywood then the rest were table service). But our experience was fantastic there. Even my two picky kids loved the food. The cream of mushroom soup was amazing! Dessert buffet was also fantastic. We must have got lucky:)

As much as I love Boma/TH, I would pick Crystal Palace if you have a bunch of picky eaters. Biergarten might also be a good choice since you have all adults. It's really fun and there should be plenty of options for folks who aren't too culinarily adventurous.

You can't go wrong with Tusker House, Crystal Palace or 1900 Park Fare. 1900 is particularly nice because of the setting (Grand Floridian), Cinderella and a wide variety of foods on the buffet, including sushi! :) Good luck!

Buffets I've tried: CP, Chef Mickey's, Cape May, Biergarten, Hollywood & Vine.
The best IMO: Biergarten. Would be a fun atmosphere for a birthday celebration.
My least favorite: Chef Mickey's--but I still like it. :-) The service has been inconsistent--really great and really terrible- in my experience.

I have been to Park Fare 1900 at least 6 times, and the food has been consistently good. Even for the later reservations, they continue to put new, freshly prepared food out. Maybe someone got unlucky once, but to say the food there is not good is not fair or accurate. :)

I liked 1900 Park faire because they had more exotic food mixed with the plain food - sushi and curries. I thought the pizza there was way better than typical Disney pizza. i think my kids focused primarily on the pizza and the fruit.

I would suggest Chef Mickeys or Trails End for basic American food without too much exotic flair especially since Biergarten was too much. I actually think Chef Mickeys would be fun for a birthday meal. I've only done breakfast there and thought the food was just fine and very American. While I wouldn't seek it out, I had a solidly good experience. Characters seemed no more rushed than at any other character meal.

For dinner? Boma, Cape May and 1900PF have the 'best' offerings of the buffets, in that order IMO.
