Which budget hotel???

Been to d-land many times. We've always stayed at a Disney site or a moderate good neighbor. But we're traveling with a large group, and everyone wants to get an economy room. Any suggestions? I'm looking at the Ramada Inn Maingate, the Ramada Plaza, Travelodge Intl. Inn, and 2 different Super 8's. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

We'll be staying at the Ramada Inn Maingate over Memorial Day weekend.
The person I spoke to at the hotel about reservations was very nice and helpful.
MaryJo has put up new photos of the hotel in another thread from this past weekend. She seemed pretty impressed with the place.
I would at least check it out and see what type of rate they would offer.

Over the years I have not read great reviews of the Ramada. It seems to be improving a bit though. It is in a great location for walking to the parks. The Super 8 on Katella gets decent reviews. I have read a few good reviews of the other Super 8 on Disneyland Drive as well though it is a little less convenient for walking to the parks. The Travelodge International get just okay reviews and is located down Harbor Blvd and not really walkable.

Thank you! I've heard about that Super 8, but we've had bad experiences elsewhere - it's really hard to tell!!!

You should also consider transport time to the parks. Is it worth the savings to ride the shuttle, or do you want to perhaps pay a bit more, and just walk - more flexibility.

2 within walking distance which regularly top all surveys of best budget or moderate priced hotels are the Candy cane and Howard Johnson.

We stayed at the Howard Johnson and loved it - 1 minute walk, good pools, great restaurant across the street, nice big rooms. You can get a good rate for it at mousesavers.com
