DH and I are heading down to WDW in 2 weeks ( ) with a couple of students from his DECA club. Neither of them have been to The World, so we are looking to take them to a breakfast buffet. It doesn't necessarily have to be a character breakfast, though it is not ruled out.

So, my question to you is this - which breakfast buffet is the best? Dh likes biscuits and gravy, and I am open to anything. As for the students- they are both boys, so they will eat anything. ;)

We have it narrowed down to either Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace, however we are open to any suggestions.

Thanks so much for any help or info!!!!

Between CM and CP I would have to go with CP...but if you are looking for the best try Cape May Buffet, the food there is awesome, we are going back next week. Here is what I remember them having:

Yogurt bar with all the toppings, fresh raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, bananas, granola, nuts etc.

Bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, some sort of egg casserole with tomatoes, onions and peppers, sausage gravy with biscuits, asparagus, potatoes with peppers and onions, potato casserole, all types of breads, mini muffins, waffles, bread pudding with vanilla sauce, blintzs, chocolate croissants, assorted cereals, sliced ham, grapes, orange and grapefruit slices, watermelon, cantelope, honeydew, oatmeal with all the toppings, cottage cheese and much more that I cannot remember.

Well either one is good. Chef Mickey's is fun, very energetic and its a short walk or monorail ride to the MK. It really gets everyone in the spirit of Disney. And they do have biscuits and gravy (or did when I ate there last time). Crystal Palace is also a good choice, you can make the eariliest seating they have, eat and then be right in the park at opening or shortly thereafter. It is only Pooh characters however, not sure if the ages of the kids will like that or not!

Probably my favorite one for food thus far is 1900 Park Fare. They have an omlette station, Chef Mickey's doesn't not sure about Crystal Palace. Its also on the monorail line at the Grand Floridian. I think they have a wonderful buffet (and I got biscuits and gravy there too). Mind you the biscuits and gravy at WDW cannot compare to my mother's (we are from Texas, I am biased) but they have still been pretty darn good! The only thing is, 1900 is under refurb right now, not sure when it is opening back up (maybe it already has). Just thought I'd throw that one in!

And just to throw in more suggestions you probably don't want, I also love the Cape May one at the Beach Club. BEST fresh fruit I have ever had, nice buffet and a short walk to Epcot. It seemed a bit more low key, we just loved it.

For non characters there is the Trails End Buffet at Ft. Wildnerness, which is supposed to be excellent and much cheaper than the character ones. Boma also has a non character breakfast buffet. There may be others but those are the two I know of.

I've only eaten at 1900 Park Faire for breakfast...and the food was amazing!!!

Thanks guys, for the quick reply. Has anyone ever eaten at O'hana's breakfast buffet?

I did, last year, and was very pleasantly surprised at how good and fresh the food was. We had a great server and it was fun to see the characters. :)

The fresh pineapple was WONDERFUL and when we asked our server for more, she brought out a huge bowl of it. There was a platter of other fresh fruit, too... watermelon, cantaloup, and grapes, if I remember correctly.

Here's a picture of my plate of food from breakfast at 'Ohana. It tasted better than this pictures makes it look. LOL

The character breakfast at Ohana is our favorite, but it's not a buffet. It's served family style, which means the server brings a big skillet to the table with all the breakfast goodies in it. You get all you can eat and can order as much as you want. We also enjoy the fruit on the table and pineapple bread. The Mickey waffles are a big fave with my boys.

They've never had biscuits and gravy when I've been there. Just breakfast sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, waffles and potatoes. I could be wrong, but also since it's served in a skillet, I don't think bisquits and gravy is something they'd serve at this particular breakfast. If you go to the link in my earlier post, you should be able to see/read about what is served at some of the meals.

Don't think so but had amazing sweet breads.

1900 Park Fare and Cape May Cafe lists bisquits and gravy, am sure some others may have too.

Well, thanks everyone fore the replys - so many great ideas.

I called Disney Dining this morning, and my decision was made for me. The only openings were the Hollywood & Vine buffet, Ohana's, and Cape May.

While I have hear good things about Holywood & Vine, I think being 16, the boys are a little big for JoJo and Goliath...:rotfl: Then, Ohana's didn't have biscuits and gravy, so we are heading to Cape May! :cool1:

Thanks so much for the reviews, I hope it is as good as you all say it is...

Only 14 more days to go!!

Whispering Canyon, WL, isn't a character meal (not technically even the CM's are characters in their own ways) but they do have an AYCE skillet breakfast. The skillet has biscuits and gravy, pinecone waffles, sausage, scrambled eggs and bacon. We eat there as our last Disney meal for our trip and dh always gets the skillet. I always get the Western Omellette which is sooooo good!!!
