Which beach for stopover when driving from MD to FL??

We are driving to WDW from MD and want to make a beach detour. What are some good beaches in SC or GA that are family friendly and have oceanfront hotels? We are looking for someplace within five hours of WDW yet no more than 10 hours from the Washington, DC area. We stayed at Disney's Hilton Head resort and really liked it but want to try another destination.

Last year we drove from NJ to FL and stopped in Savannah, GA. It is a really neat city. We never made it to the beaches, but I hear there are some really nice beaches/islands off the GA coast. Might be worth looking into!
