What should we not waste our time on at MGM and why?

I have experienced all of these attractions.

If someone had told me NOT to do them, I would have not been able to judge them for myself.

However, DISNEY is voting for you SKIP seeing WWTBAM after Aug. 19th.

(Its closing.)

That's the only vote that really matters.

As the previous poster said.. sometimes you have to see for yourself and yes, Millionaire is closing soon, and that is one thing that we have not done....we will have to try to fit it in before it closes!!! Maybe my views are a little slanted as I am local, and I don't have to fit as much as I can into a vacation..... but again IMHO... here you go!

Until May (again after frequent visits to MGM being local) we finally made time to do One Man's Dream and Disney Animation, and to my surprise - DD loved both of these. She liked seeing all the things in the museum prior to the biography about Walt, which she seemed to find very interesting. (She is nine).

We went to Animation Studios to see the Chicken Little characters, and found the drawing studio to be very fun. We did it three times in a row. We learned to draw Donald, Mickey and Pooh! I also enjoyed the pre-movie with Mushu!

Lights, Motor Action is a good show. We caught the last show on the Sunday we were there in May.

Sounds Dangerous - we have done this several times - usually with a visitor that had not done it before.

DDs favorite at MGM - (besides the RnRC) is the Great Movie Ride.

Sounds Dangerous got my vote, I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to sit thru that attraction. It was a snooze-fest, except you can't sleep b/c all the dang noises!

Sounds Dangerous is the one attraction in all of WDW that we have no interest if ever going to again.

I put sounds dangerous, but if its really hot out and you need a break....head in, but leave the headphones off...good time for a quick snooze:)

Lights, Motor, Action was good........once. I won't waste my time seeing it again, though, one time was enough.

Sounds Dangerous is ridiculous. All you do is go into a small theater, get headsets and listen to Drew Carey's voice thru your headsets. I thought I was doing one of those hearing tests. I guess if you just want to indulge in some AC this is the place to go- there's never a line for it either (for obvious reasons). I LOVE the Walt Disney exhibit, I almost cried! Everything else in MGM is a go for me!

I am so very sad that Millionaire is closing. If you want to see this attraction, you have until August 18

Lights Motors action was a cool show thats a must see. Sounds dangerous is not worth your time.

I agree the Sounds Dangerous needs an overhaul, but it's short. It's dark in there and cool when it's hot out. I actually did fall asleep there for a few minutes. Sort of a power-nap.

I definately recommend walking through One Man's Dream. The Disney trivia is really interesting. The movie about Walt Disney is also worth watching. It makes you appreciate the man who concieved "the world".

I'm probably the only person that actually enjoys Sounds Dangerous. And come on, that blow dryer going by your ears... that's pretty cool! :lmao:

My vote is for Lights, Motors, Action. We did that once. It was long and there was only one good part. The end.

Would not skip any, judge for yourself.

Disney MGM Studios Backlot Tour. My entire family thought it was pretty boring. The Catastrophe Canyon part was ok, but the entire thing took too long, it was hot and pretty boring. But that's just my family's opinion. :)

My vote is for Sound Dangerous. However as OPs have said if it is hot and you would really like a rest, this is the place.

Umm..the Narnia one. We loved the movie and were hoping to see a behind the scenes type show that showed effects, etc. Probably my fault for not reading carefully enough about, but what a waist of time! We stood in the little line. It is basically a long preview for the movie. If you've seen it, you know it all; if you haven't seen it, it's still just a long preview! They opened the doors after this part was part was over. I'm thinking "Now we get to the good part." Nope! This was the exit with several displays, I think 4, of props from the movie. That's it! I fealt so embarassed for making my parents, DH, and DD stand in line to see this.

That's hard to answer without you providing any info about you & the group you will be traveling with. The attractions all appeal to different tastes - for example, were I am bored to pieces at the stunt shows, DH loves them.

Without knowing anything about your group, I'd say give them all a try and judge for yourselves.

Only if you have seen them before should you skip them
I think we are not scheduling to see the following

  • Sounds Dangerous
  • Star Tours
  • muppets 3
  • Have seen all of them and want to focus on things we have not done.
