hi,
I want to surprise a friend of mine by giving her a one night stay in AKV (she's from orlando) with her hubby. Now, I'm not so at home in AKV (my home resort and favorite place is BWV; I stayed in AKV before, but can't recollect many details about it) so I was hoping to get some advice here....
I'd like to get her a SV studio; but which is best, Kidani or Jambo? They won't be visiting the theme parcs, just enjoying the hotel and its facilities. Are there any special requests for rooms i could make? My friend loves giraffs.
thanks so much for any advice!

I like to book studios at Jambo. They have 2 sinks in the dressing area, and Jambo has the counter service restaurant, The Mara.

I like the Arusha savannah, but there are also giraffes on the Sunset Savannah.

A standard view studio would most likely face the pool at Jambo, but there are some that have a slight savannah view. Since there are plenty of places to see animals around the resort, you could book standard and hope for pixie dust.

There are also value rooms at Jambo, a great value! Smaller than other studios, still with 2 sinks in dressing area. You do stand a chance of getting parking view. Other than that view, you could be luckier, get a pool view, or even luckier and get a savannah view!

I agree with Bobbi.

Size wise, there is only 1 square foot difference between the Standard & Savanna View Studios in Jambo House and Kidani Village. Like Bobbi, I prefer the bath layout in Jambo House. Regardless of which building you book them, they can use all of the standard amenities at either building.

Thank you.

I'm okay with paying the extra points for savannah view. I prefer making sure my friend has the good view than saving points and hoping for pixie dust :-)

The main question i actually had, was if the views are any different between the savannah view studio's in jambo or kidani? where are the best animal sightings and which animals are where? for someone who loves giraffs, which would be the best savanah to look on?

thank you!

Note I am assuming that by "SV" you mean savanna view not standard (when speaking of AKV one needs to be more specific because "SV" can stand for either). If studio get Jambo and put in request for Arusha savanna view along Zebra Trail, an ideal location. That is the savanna in the center that has giraffes; Sunset has comparable animals, likewise Uzima although some have mentioned not seeing giraffes in Uzima. For reasons noted above, the Jambo studios are better than Kidani because of bathroom arrangement, including double sink but also placement of shower within separate room with toilet. (at Kidani shower is in the open next to sink). Jambo has the larger lobby and store, and three restaurants (Jiko, a very good table service, Boma, an outstanding buffet, and Mara a good counter service with lots of seating area that extends outside to near the pool area). If you ever intend to get a 1BR or 2BR, go with Kidani because those rooms, unlike the studios, are significantly larger and better all around than the ones at Jambo.

I'm with Bobbi on Jambo, also. The only difference is that I prefer the Sunset Savannah. However, I'm a bird watcher and there are more birds on the sunset savannah. As far as views, I was lucky enough to go to AKV-Jambo twice, a few months apart. The first time I had savannah view, the next standard view. Well, the 2 studios were only a few rooms apart and the view from my standard view studio was a much nicer view of the savannah (or maybe it only seemed nicer since I was "paying" less). Anyways, it didn't make sense, but I really enjoyed it.

thanks; and to be honest, if it were for ourselves, i'd take the 'risk' as well of booking a standard room, hoping for a good view; but since it's for my friend, i prefer being 'sure' :-)
