DH and I have $800 worth of travel vouchers to use for Delta. He wants to fly into LAX, but I was mentioning ONT because apparently it's closer to DLR?

Help please??? :flower3: I live on the east coast and don't know anything about California...

There are flights into LAX arriving at 10:35am, but then how far to transport to DLR? An hour, an hour and a half?

There is a flight into ONT that arrives about 12:30pm, I think. How long will it take to get to DLR from there?

What are the best transport methods? DH wanted to use Disney bus which he says is free from LAX.

And any returning flight we have to take at 7am to get back home at a decent time. How is transport back to the airport that early on a Tuesday morning?

Thanks to anyone who can help! :thumbsup2

We also had Delta vouchers to use for our upcoming trip, and I found the best deal flying into Long Beach. Orange County was $60 per person more, so we opted for Long Beach. Not sure about from the east coast though, but Long Beach doesn't seem much further than Orange County airport which we loved, and we hate LAX, avoid that airport like the plague....plus it's a further.

I strongly recommend flying into Ontario over LAX! I have done both this year and I will avoid LAX at all costs for any other future trips! When we drove from Ontario, I think it took us about 45 minutes to get to the resort, not very long. When we went from Lax, I believe about an hour, but everything there is so slow and busy. It took us an hour from landing just to get our luggage and rental car. Ontario was very quick and easy and not as busy to get in and out of. When flying out of LAX back home, we chose to have the curbside checkin which we had to wait in line for about 15 minutes compared to the at least hour long line in the terminal to check bags.

Just thought I would let you know! Not sure if Delta does orange county or long beach or not, but they would also be good places to arrive.

Hope that helps!

Between LAX or Ontario, I would hands down choose Ontario!

We flew into Ontario this last October and thought it was easy and fast. It's about a 30 minute drive to/from Disneyland.

If you can fly into Orange County (SNA) or Long Beach, that would be even better!

The Disney bus from LAX is not free (well, unless there is some resort deal that I am not aware of), I am paying $28 return.

To be honest, with the arrival/departure times that you have, it really won't make a difference which airport you go into. You won't run into traffic at those times, and LAX and ONT are about the same distance away from DLR and take the same amount of time to travel to and from DLR with no traffic. Getting to DLR from LAX takes no more than 45 minutes, with no traffic.

ONT is nice, in the fact that it is small and less congested, however you're options to getting to DLR are smaller as there are no direct busses to Disneyland out of ONT. There are no free busses at LAX, however the Disneyland Express runs out of LAX, is there every half hour, and costs $28 round trip. The other good thing about LAX, is that a decent amount of flights that go out of there, therefore if you miss your flight, you have a better chance getting an alternative one out of there (where as ONT, you will be SOL for awhile).

I know a lot of people don't like LAX on here, but I've flown out of Orange County, Ontario, and LAX enough where I can honestly say that I've never had any major problems with LAX and would personally choose LAX over ONT.

Thanks everyone!

I looked into Orange County and it seems to be about the same cost as Ontario, and both were $100 cheaper than LAX.

So, how far from SNA to DLR?

Why is there no Disney bus from ONT? Is there one from SNA to DLR? It just doesn't make sense to me why the closer airports don't have the transfers.

Anyways, please help with the rest of my questions. I am booking the flight today.

THANKS AGAIN!!! :goodvibes

We have flown into SNA and loved it, very close to DL. However, just take a cab, forget the buses or shuttles, what a waste of time and $$$. If there are 2 of you, it will be a wash to take a cab and so much simpler and faster.

How much for a cab from SNA to DLR?

Thanks! :flower3:

A cab ride from SNA to Disneyland will take about 15 minutes and cost around $42 plus tip.:thumbsup2

You don't have to worry about scheduling a cab beforehand. There will be plenty of them lined up right outside baggage claim, waiting to take you anywhere you want to go.

We usually always fly into SNA because it's so close to DL, but last time we found a good deal flying into Ontario, and we couldn't pass it up. But if you can fly into SNA for about the same price, then do it!:cool1:

Is SNA the same as John Wayne airport?

Thanks for the info. I think paying for the cab would be worth it to not have to worry about waiting for a shuttle bus to fill up before leaving.

SNA is the John Wayne airport and it is only about 10 -15 minutes from Disneyland. You can catch a Supershuttle to DLR for $10 bucks so if you are wanting to save money to spend on souvies or food, you might want to consider that $20 versus $42 - that's your call but I'd spend the extra $20 on a sweatshirt or mickey ears! Either way you can make up your mind at the airport because neither requires advance reservations. Have a great time!

Good tip! I didn't know that a Supershuttle from SNA was only $10 per person!:thumbsup2

LOL! DH made the decision for me. He said he wants to take the shuttle so I can have more spending money! :thumbsup2

And a sweatshirt for only $20??? In WDW they are atleast $40.

Thanks for the info! :goodvibes

Yaaayyy! We finally made a decision. Tomorrow I call Delta to make our ressies!

We are flying to SNA with a layover in Atlanta and getting to Orange County at 10:35am, I think. Then we will take the shuttle to Paradise Pier.

Our return flight leaves SNA at 11:40am and has a stop in Cincinati. We will be back in Norfolk, VA just before 10pm. That's gonna be a long day!

Thanks for all the help, everyone! :teacher:

Yes, SNA is John Wayne but it is definitely not only 10-15 minutes away from Disneyland, even with NO traffic. Figure on 20-30 minutes with no traffic. Traffic should not be bad that time of day.

Enjoy your trip!

Okay, so I live in a delusional world where Disneyland sweatshirts are only $20 -that's just for the sleeves - the rest is $40. AND, okay, you caught me, I told a bold face lie, it probably does takes longer than 10-15 minutes from SNA to DLR...just wishful thinking on my part.....it doesn't seem that long to me but I'm no expert, that's true! Have a magical vacation!

I have to say that it's never taken us longer than 15 minutes to get from SNA to DL. I think you're taking the long way around. Either that or we always end up with a crazy, fast-driving cab driver.

Now Ontario, yes, that's a 25-30 minute drive, but SNA is about 15 minutes.

(If you do a map search for directions, it will also give you an estimated drive time of 15 minutes.)
