Okay, we may have to cancel some reservations due to cost :sad2: Which 4 would you pick to cancel and why? We are staying at AKV (renting points-cheaper than a value!), and we will be there for 12 days. We will not be using the dining plan or TIW. The choices are in the poll above, but I'll put them here too.

Crystal Palace-breakfast
Ohana-dinner
Sci Fi Dine In-lunch
Chef Mickey's-breakfast
Le Cellier-lunch
Liberty Tree Tavern-lunch
50's Prime Time Cafe-lunch
Boma-breakfast
Akershus-breakfast

If you post the reservations you have, I will gladly give you some input. Sorry you have to cancel some. That is sad... but costs can build up quickly at TS restaurants...

Are you on a DDP? Using TiW? Or just paying straight OOP?

If it were me and it was oop ( I'd still use a ts on something other than breakfast), I would cancel all the breakfast meals. A bagel and a glass of oj or milk is more than enough for me. The money saved with those $15 breakfasts can then be better used for lunch & dinner. But then this opinion is coming from someone who is not a big breakfast eater.

Ah... I see them now in the poll.

Where are you staying, and how long is your trip?

Hi! Sorry that you might have to cancel, but here are my 4..

Sci-Fi...neat atmosphere, but the food isn't that great. Maybe it would be an
idea to go just for dessert? Great milkshakes! ..big enough to share.

Liberty Tree..so so menu..many other better choices

Prime-Time..hit or miss as to whether you get a "fun" waitress/waiter. Food is
not that great

Norway..this menu doesn't appeal to me, so that is easy for me

Good luck!

We aren't fans of SciFi or 50's. We usually leave DHS and go eat at Epcot or Beaches and Cream. As for character breakfasts Chef Mickey's is my least favorite. The buffet is not as good as at other places and it is very loud.

Thanks for your input everybody. I'm hanging on to all the ADRs for now, but if we end up canceling we'll be canceling Sci Fi and Akershus. Sci Fi is the obvious choice based on your votes (we'll sub Backlot Express instead) and Akershus because we can meet all of the princesses elsewhere in the park. Canceling those two meals will save us close to $100.

I picked Chef Mickey's (food is not that good and the characters are rushed); Liberty Tree Tavern, 50's Prime Time (we much prefer Sci Fi) and Akershus (although we've never done breakfast, we did do lunch and just didn't care for it).

I know many don't like Sci-Fi but I liked that you're ADR is 3pm. While you get the lunch menu (better than dinner in my opinion), you will be full and won't really need dinner. Big savings in that alone.

I'm not a big fan of spending much on breakfasts. I would rather grab a bagel or cinnamon roll and be on my way. For that matter, you could just pack pop-tarts in your luggage and not worry about breakfasts.

The last one I selected was O'hana. I know there are many, many here who love it and recommend it, but we didn't care for it at all. Way too much food, heavy & filling and much of the meat was dried out. It was also so loud that I got a severe headache. I don't like buffets because you must pay a premium amount even if you don't eat a lot. I prefer to eat at table services where I can order an appetizer and a dessert and dh can get whatever he wants. Often we split an entree if we're not very hungry.

I picked Chef Mickey's, Ohana's, Liberty Tree Tavern, and 50's Prime Time Cafe. I'll give my reasons why below.

1. Chef Mickey's - The food is horrible!
2. Ohana's - In my opinion, dinner here is just ok. Breakfast is a lot better.
3. Liberty Tree Tavern - The food isn't that good.
4. 50's Prime Time Cafe - I think the Sci-Fi Dine In is more entertaining.

How many and what ages? You've got a lot of buffets and breakfasts and those add up and are a lot of money for breakfast food. Some of the restaurants are more fun than others. For ex, we love Sci Fi, but our kids are teens and it is fun for them. Not sure I'd go with little ones.

.

Great minds think alike. :) $15 - $20 breakfasts or 1ts on the ddp is to much for me. Bagels or Pop Tarts work for me as well.

It's just going to be mom and I (52 & 19).

Since we're going to be there for 12 days, we are having Garden Grocer deliver a bunch of food: cereal, cottage cheese, yogurts for most of the breakfasts. We will also eat either lunch or dinner in the room (sandwiches) almost every day. Mom's concern is also the $15-20. She's watching what she eats (and has already lost 30 lbs!), so she's concerned she won't be able to eat $20 worth of food. We are keeping Chef Mickey's & Crystal Palace mostly for the characters. Ohana and Boma are both very highly recommended by allears and all the guidebooks I've been reading. At most other restaurants (CS or TS) we'll be sharing.

I personally do not particularly like sci fi or crystal palace. I would definitely keep 'Ohana and LeCellier, but you're probably already doing that! :)
