We would like to dine at a 2TS restaurant. We'll be staying at Beach Club Villas so would prefer to stay nearby. What would you recommend? We're not seafood eaters. We enjoy appetizers and desserts. We had planned Hollywood Brown Derby to do the Fantasmic package--then decided we don't want to see Fantasmic so we have more options.

Yachtsman Steakhouse?
Flying Fish Cafe?
Hollywood Brown Derby?

Monorail from Epcot to California Grill?

I think Flying Fish is the best on Disney's Dining Plan but the menu is very limited if you are not interested in fish/seafood. I'm not sure there are any appetizers that are anything but fish/seafood. The tuna tartare here is one of my favorite appetizers anywhere. I would definitely check out the menu before going to make sure you will have a variety of items you might be interested in trying.

Yachtsman is okay. If you are taking your children, they might be bored here. I find it kind of a dull place with so-so food. I do enjoy the desserts here more than several of the other signatures but the appetizers are nothing special. Out of the 3 you have selected, this would be my last choice, both for the food and the atmosphere.

I like Brown Derby quite a bit but we pay OOP. On the dining plan, it's not really a good use of 2 credits because the courses are not as expensive as most of the signatures. However, the food is good, it's nice to find this type of food in a theme park restaurant. Although the seared tuna is my favorite dish here, the menu definitely has plenty of non-seafood items.

Thanks for the info! I like Brown Derby too. It's just one we've done before and I'm wondering if I should try something new. How about hopping on the monorail from Epcot to go to the California Grill? I'm afraid it would take quite a chunk of time we could spend in the parks though.

Having looked through the menu for Flying Fish, I think the kid's menu looks awesome--good appetizer and desserts for the kids! I can always go for a salad and steak and yummy dessert so I'd be fine too. I'd still appreciate other thoughts on the matter as I've never eaten at most of these places. Thanks!

We love the Yachtsman. It is one of our favorites so we eat there every trip. We just got home today and last week ate at the Yachtsman and California Grill. I was glad we tried CG, but wouldn't go back. The fireworks were beautiful, but that was it. We have eaten in the Brown Derby and didn't care for it.

The food at the Yachtsman is great. The steaks are great and I love the lobster bisque. My boys (8 and 6) have loved it since they were little. They love the steak and the kids macaroni and cheese. They have a very cute dessert for the kids too, it is a white chocolate puzzle that they can paint before they eat. Oscar is the best waiter around. if you go ask to sit at one of his tables.

If you are staying at BC it is nice and close!

Flying Fish does serve a great steak; it's just it's about the only option for non fish eaters. If you are fine with that; I would definitely go for FF then. It's got an open kitchen, a fun decor, good children's menu. It's the type of place where everyone would enjoy it. Plus you come out of the restaurant and there's the Boardwalk activity which is fun too.

CG is nice and has a wonderful view but the food is not as good as FF. If you are going to MK, it's a quick trip on the monorail to the Contemporary to eat there but we've found that we often have to wait for our table and we don't get in/out of CG as quickly as we can at FF.

Just got back and I have to say that if you're not into seafood, there's isn't much on the menu you'd like. Def. check out the menus to decide. For my two cents, Cali Grill is the best. It was the best meal of my seven day trip. I liked Flying Fish, but our dinner was super fast, which I don't like when you're paying those kinds of prices for dinner.

A bonus for us though! With little kids a fast dinner is a good dinner!

Thanks for the input everybody!

I think we'll go for either FF or Yachtsman. I'll take another look at the menus.
