We (my wife, kids 8 & 10 and I) will be visiting LA in March for a few days.

We arrive late in the afternoon Tuesday, March 9th. I was initailly thinking we would stay at a hotel in Anaheim Tuesday, Wed, and Thursday then off to Hollywood for two before we leave Sunday morning. The reason for doing Disney first was I thought the crowds would be lighter.

I just checked the schedule for the parks and DL open at 9:00 and closes at 8:00 while CA opens at 9:00 and closed at 6:00...with no fireworks any of those nights.

Friday, Sat, DL opens an hour earlier and closes at midnight while CA opens early and closes much later as well. With the bonus of fireworks Fri. and Sat. nights.

Is it going to be that much better if we go on the days with fewer park hours to avoid the crowds or is it better to suffer the crowds Friday, March 12th and Saturday, March 13th to get the longer hours and firewroks at night?

Will the parks be crazy busy by Saturday, March 13th?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Saturday should be lighter for crowds, as will Friday during the day. Friday night will be busy.

The answer depends on what is more important: lower crowds or fireworks and more entertainment options. Also note that Aladdin is at DCA and is really, really good. It shows Thurs-Sunday.

The Remember Dreams Come True fireworks show is much more than a fireworks show with lasers and other special effects. It is the best show of its kind Disney has produced and will make your jaw drop.

What if you did Thurs - Sat. and did Hollywood Tues/Weds? That way you could see Aladdin and the fireworks and have longer park hours. Thurs. will probably be your least crowded day and then Friday morning will be great. Sat. morning could also be great - IF you get there before park opening.

DH and I were in DLR last July and getting to the park at 7:30 am (opened at 8) gave us at least 3 uncrowded hours and LOTS of walk-ons. Once 11 am came you could really feel crowds start to build. We were surprised by how much we could do those first 3 hours.

If uncrowded parks are important - go Tues thru Thurs. If shows and fireworks are important do Thurs - Sat. and have a good FP strategy and get to the parks EARLY, you'll be glad you did. :upsidedow
