My husband and I invited a friend to come with us next summer for Star Wars weekend. We just became members in June of this year and our home resort is BLT. Since we are so new to DVC we really don't know where we should stay.

I like that some of the new resorts have 2 separate bathrooms so I was thinking maybe we should try Kidani but I really don't know. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Both BLT and Kidani have 2 bathrooms in the 1 BR units, I believe. For Star Wars weekend, you might want to try Boardwalk or Beach Club since they are close to DHS. You can only reserve those at 7 months out, so you should make a reservation at your home resort (BLT) and then if you want, try to switch at the 7 month mark (but at least you know you'll have a reservation at BLT in case you can't switch).

Thank you! I keep forgetting that I should make a reservation at my resort then try for the one I really want at 7 months. And that would be great to have DHS so close so I will look into the Boardwalk and Beach Club.
Thanks again!

Even though they are closer, I would stick with BLT. That extra bathroom would be the selling point for me. Now, if you wanted to try AKV, that would be my second choice. I think BLT 1 bedrooms look fantastic, (just from the models) and that's why I would stay there.

Having done Star Wars week-end for the last 3 years, this hopefully being the last (It was gosh darn hot), BCT & BWV really make the most sense. Getting there at rope drop for autographs (which you won't get if not) etc. is a lot easier if you're just walking over then getting up early to catch a bus.

The 1st year we were at OKW and we realized how much easier it was when we stayed at BCT the following year and at BWV this past year. DS (soon to be 13) says he's done with Star Wars Week-end, I sure hope so 3 years was plenty!

P.S. I've never had trouble reserving at the 7 month mark.

Thank you so much for all your insights. I am going to book BLT now and then try and transfer to BCV or BWV since I am sure my husband and friend will want to get autographs.

BEASLYBOO - what did you think of Star Wars weekend?

It's great to hear that you haven't had any issues with booking 7 months out.

Thanks again!

Of course I'm not the Star War's Lover, my son and BF are. Some of the demo's are quite neat but I really enjoyed some of the workshops (for lack of a better word) where they explained and showed how the special effects etc. are done. Over the years we've gotten several autographed pictures and specialty/collector items. Interestingly enough, some people actually dress up, it's a hoot.

We've been 3 years in a row and my son told me that he would probably skip it next year. I guess time will tell! As far as the 7 month window, we always book a 2br, I think booking a studio at 7 months is probably much harder.

Good luck!

Do you have suggestions for a back up should we not be able to get BWV or BCV?

I can understand how you would want to take a breather after 3 years of going especially since you aren't a fan. I'm the same way. I'm not into it but I don't mind it. I like the Disney SW characters but that's about where my interest ends. I figure I will just ride ToT over and over again all day.

It's not a problem to stay at any other resort, you will just have to get up earlier to catch the bus to make rope drop. Where we are morning people, our friends are not and getting them out of the villa for 8am rope drop is a harduous task but we did it the 1st time from OKW!

Another tip, for autographs don't all stand together in the same line, spread out.
