This is a test photo that I have been planning for some time. The object is to make the flagpole on Main Street disappear, not that I don't like the flagpole but I wanted a clean view of the castle.

Now I have to go to WDW at dusk with a tripod and take the final version.

just plan a trip for when they are taping the chirstmas parade, they take it down :)

Very nice! Are we giving away secrets or is this the Prime Rib in front of the dog cage?

I dunno...I think you're sacrificing way too much here to get rid of the flagpole. The Castle and Main Street are both smaller, and there are random 'half-lights' in the foreground.

never mind the half lights the flowers are mismatched and the castle is wrong as well... nice attempt but this is a flawed stitching job if you ask me.

It does look off... Why did you choose this particular method to remove the flagpole? Was there a specific reason?

BTW - a simple two-shot Doppler would get rid of the flagpole pretty smoothly with minimal processing. Just take one shot from a fixed location, then move about a foot to the right and take the shot again - keep the focal distance, camera height, and angle the same. The two stereo shots will be just different enough that when layered, the flagpole will have shifted just off to the right, allowing you to erase it out of the top layer shot.

And of course, there's the "wait for Christmas' technique too:

Awesome idea, I will have to remember this!

This seems like it might be a difficult task if you have to use 2 shots (during the daytime anyway). The complete random movements of the crowd might make that aspect of the pic look completely off. You could probably get away with it at night though.

This was a five photo composite, moving about ten feet to either side for successive frames. I merged them in Photoshop CS5 which narrowed the street and gave lots of ghosts. Aligning and merging by hand did a much better job but by then I was ready to go to bed and did not post the results yet.

The technique works well but takes a lot of masking to eliminate ghosts. As Zackiedawg noted, maintaining the camera and lens settings is important.

VERY nice, boB. :thumbsup2 I knew your final product wouldn't disappoint. Sure does sound like a lot of work, hopefully this is just a one-time shot that you don't plan to replicate every trip. ;)
