I want to buy APs for my next trip, also planning on going next year too :)

Should I buy a voucher online,at the park or is there any other way I can get them here?

We have a tradition of going to Downtown Disney on our first night to wind down from the flight. There is a guest services there, and that is where we got our APs. Saved wasting precious park time queueing, and we were in and out in ten minutes.

Thanks Caroley, thats a good idea!

I do like to have them in my paws as soon as poss though!Maybe I'll just have to wait!

We always buy our vouchers online and exchange them at the first park we visit, although there really isn't any benefit in doing so, except that you would avoid any interim price increase.

UKDeb - If you want any discount on them ie DC , you have to buy them at the park gates or at Downtown. I tried to buy on line and get disc and was told this is now not possible. Also you used to be able to start them on the day of your first visit, just handed over your voucher. This has changed as well and they start from the day of purchase. At least thats what we were told.

Hi David,

I e-mailed Disney about purchasing APs in advance with DC discount and was told that it isn't possible - they must be purchased at the gate to get the discount. However, Penny (Disneymad) posted that it is possible to buy in advance (although not online), but I can't remember exactly how. It certainly isn't unusual for Disney fans to know more than the CMs - I guess it's just luck whether or not the one you get knows the answer to your particular question.

My understanding of AP exchange certificates is that they run from the date of exchange and that's certainly always been our experience. We bought our most recent exchange certificates online back in August time last year and activated them in December - they run until December 2002. I think it's the renewal policy that's changed. You used to be able to renew your APs immediately on expiry, but not activate them until your next visit. Now they run for 12 months from date of renewal. In practice this isn't an issue - you just let them expire and buy new ones. Of course you don't get the renewal discount.

We have a Disney Club card so would like to get the discount if possible

Is it 5% for APs? I think we might follow caroleys tradition and go to downtown Disney on our first night:)

Absolutely.- You can ask the same question 2 or 3 times and get a different answer each time.;)

I bought my tickets direct with CRO over the phone, this was a while back now though, so I guess they might have changed the rules since, but I don't really see any reason why they should, it doesn't make sense (so what's new!)

As for when AP's start...this seems to be a long running misunderstanding amongst CM's, but Deb is right. The policy is definately this. Unless buying at WDW, you will get a voucher which you'll need to exchange for the real thing on arrival. Your ticket doesn't start running until you've done this, no matter how far in advance you buy. Renewals are a different matter however...if you renew your AP, it is active from the date the old one expires. I believe, last time I heard that you can only renew 30 days after your old one expires anyhow to qualify for the discount.

And yes, DC discount is 5% :)

Hope that helps

Penny :)
