I filed our taxes efile the end of February. At first, it indicated my refund would be deposited on March 9. I checked again today, and it said March 16. Should I be worried? Or are they just backed up???

If you owe anything like back taxes, child support or student loans your refund could be offset which then they will take the refund and either send you a check with the difference or you will get a letter stating that your refund was offset. I would be a little worried since they are very timely with depositing every Friday.

we shouldn't owe anything like that. now I am really starting to worry!

They are behind because of the 800$ credit. Mine changed by 2 weeks and this was the reason the IRS gave me.

If you are worried, call them.

Yeah - I'd give them a call.

Our return was accepted on 2/22 and was given an estimated direct deposit date of 3/5. It actually hit our account on 3/2.

From what I've heard and experienced myself, the refund should come after two full weeks and will be deposited on the next Friday as that is the only day they do deposits. I hope this helps...

We filed our taxes at the beginning of January, and realized a couple days later we messed up.

We went to an accountant, and had to file an amended return. Since it is in our favor, we are very happy!

However, we are STILL waiting for our tax refund check.

Anyone have any idea how long it will take for an amended return check to arrive?

Sorry to hijack the thread. I have never had to do an amended return though, and am curious how long it will take. We leave for DL in 3 weeks, and the money would really help.

When we filed, the chart said an earlier date than the 'where's my refund' thing did. It ended up coming in as shown on the original chart so I think they pad the 'where's my refund' date. I wouldn't stress if I were you.

We received our refund a whole week earlier than we expected.

We had our taxes done on February 25th. Efiling said we should have the refund deposited on March 12th. It was deposited on March 5th.:thumbsup2

What is the $800 credit?

Not really sure....some sort of working credit (???) that everyone was eligible for. I think it is 400 for single and 800 for couple. I will look at turbo tax to see if I can figure out what it is.

Ours is even worse. Our form was mailed in and picked up February 21. I just checked it and it said that it is processing and should be received by April 6. And that is with direct deposit!

Gee guys, thanks for the speediness.

E-filed last week and received both state and federal refunds yesterday. It was about 9 days.

Just to ease your mind OP we were audited two years ago because my hubby forgot to do his taxes a couple of years before that (he even had a 700 dollar credit ??? who knows :) ). Anyways when were were audited it never gave us a date that it would come. The where's my refund site just kept saying in progress, so the fact that you have a date being given too you should be a good thing :) Assuming that is what you are worried about :) HTH

That's what I thought. Mine was deposited last SUNDAY... 6 days before the full 2 weeks. I called the bank to double check, I thought it was so weird. :confused3

We did e-file and got our is less than 10 days. My beautician on the other hand had issues with her refund. Her name on you SS card is hyphenated and they have rejected her refund because when she submitted her tax's she did not hyphenated her name on the return. Now mind you she has been married for 10 years and this has not been a problem in the past.
They must be getting picky about things.

We got ours in about 10 days in early Feb. Originally our estimated date was a week later but abruptly they changed it and we got our money on a Tues. I had called the credit union while we were waiting and they told me that there has been no rhyme or reason to when they are depositing the refunds. Sometimes they get advance notice, sometimes not.

this was the "making work pay" stimulus. the witholdings throughout the year were changed, so less was taken out (about $13 per week.. whoopee!)
now, since the tax tables weren't really changed to adjust to this, there is a tax credit(NOT a deduction, it is on the short forms also, so you don't have to itemize to get this). some people found that it hurt them overall, with 2 people working, and in a higher tax barcket(in other workds, they would have rather had the money deducted from their checks in the first place)
anyway, it is $400 for single, UP TO $800 for married. there is a worksheet in the from instructions to fill out, which will determine the amount of the tax credit.
you can deduct this amount from "the tax you owe",( just like you deduct the amount you have already paid.)

Well, the 16th would be just over two weeks after I filed, since I rechecked the date I did it. Hoping nothing is wrong. I may give them a call just to be sure, but sort of apprehensive....don't want to hear bad news! LOL

The IRS does not only do refunds on Fridays. Ours were done on a Tuesday this year and we aren't the only ones. When we went to the "Where's my refund", it said Feb 2 (a Tues). We got it in the bank the following day.

OP, I've heard that they are delaying everyone's return. It started with the bad weather last month and then the $800 working credit added to that. I would not worry unless they delay it again.
