Hi guys,

I'm doing the half in Jan but get to WDW (staying at the Pop Century) on 1st Jan so would like to do a few training runs before the big day, can anyone recommend anywhere to run. I was going to just run around the hotel but thought you guys might have a better suggestion :)

We will have a car so could drive to somewhere to run.

Thanks

My favorite run at WDW would be the Boardwalk/Yacht & Beach/Swan & Dolphin loop. It has great views and your always right along the water, plus you can take the path down to Hollywood Studios to add a some mileage to it.

I've done the Pop Century area once and it was alright, there are signs along the path that have different facts from the the decade your running through, which is neat.:thumbsup2

I agree with the Boardwalk area and I like Caribbean Beach resort. Somewhere there is a list of running areas and distances. I can't remember where it is, but maybe some one will be along that knows.

We ran from WL out to Fort Wilderness and around the campground when we were there in May. We saw 6 or so deer on the path between WL and FW. There was a lot of shade as well. If you ask at the front desk at WL they can give you a little map. I don't think it's very accurate mileage wise, but points you in the right direction. Have fun!:goodvibes

Thank you all so much, all the runs that you describe sound ideal and I'm really looking forward to having a go at them in preparation for the half, DH doing the marathon so they'll really help him prepare too.

dizneyfan23 - Where is best to start this run, is it a proper marked out running trail, do you know the distance?

Rose&mike - that sounds like such a lovely run, we'll definately do that one, seeing deer would be amazing!

joan4mickey - if you remember where that list is please let me know, or if anyone else knows that would be a big help.

Thanks again everyone :thumbsup2

If I remember correctly, two complete laps and then once down to the Studios and back is around 5 miles. Last time I did it, I was staying at the Boardwalk, which made it easy for me to get there.

As for Pop Century, I don't think the it's a very long path at all.

Neither are marked as "Running paths" they are just the normal walkways around the resorts.:thumbsup2

Perfect, thanks very much :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I have no excuses now not to actually complete the half, my first one, sooo looking forward to it :yay: :yay:

You won't need excuses! It's a great race with lots of crowd support. If you do your training and make it to the start line, you'll make it to the finish line!

Thanks once again guys. I've wanted to take part in the WDW Marathon Weekend for ages now and thrilled that I'm now actually going to be part of it, though I may not be saying the same at about mile 10 :)

I'm really excited now I know there are some great running trails at WDW, it's spurring me on to do my training here at home, even when the UK weather isn't great

Another vote for the Boardwalk area. It is the best run on property and you can grab a Starbucks in the Dolphin, a bagel or something small at the Boardwalk Bakery, and enjoy the quite of the Boardwalk in the early morning.

The Port Orleans resort is also a great run. There is a trail that goes along the river on the resort and while it is short you can do a couple of laps and enjoy the resort.

Where is the best place to start the Boardwalk area run, actually from the Baordwalk or the Dolphin, just wondering where would be best to park the car? :)

Another vote for the Boardwalk/DHS studios run I love it in the dark especially. Coronado Springs lake loop is also very nice to run and Saratoga Springs has alot of area to run in.

I would park at the boardwalk and start there. I always start behind the exit from the BW resort's lobby (behind the grassy area where they always put the Christmas tree) and do my run. If you look here I pretty much do #3 and #1 and repeat as necessary.

Thanks again everyone :thanks:

All of the running trails sound great, I'm spoilt for choice, I'll definately be giving the Boardwalk one a go then see if I can get round a few of the others before the big day. Not long to go now :woohoo:
