Where's Bristol?

Just clicking through the huge assortment of McCain/Palin campaign photos on AOL.

The latest were of McCain, Palin and Lieberman at a campaign stop. Willow, Piper and Second Dude were there, but no Bristol.

There were lots and lots of pictures of Willow and Piper standing with their mother. But it became increasingly evident that Bristol is being kept off the campaign trail.

I can understand Track not being in the photos since he is with his unit, and even little Trig and the campaign is no place for a 6 month old baby.

But where is Bristol?

Does she not support her mother? Does she refuse to go out on the campaign trail with her?

Is the campaign afraid to show her?

Are they afraid that the actual sight of her pregnancy might offend the conservative base?

Why are they keeping her hidden?

Out of sight, out of mind?

Can't be school, as there seems to be no problem with Willow and Piper missing school?

Can't be the pregnancy as most women don't have any restrictions on the first or second trimester, especially young ones.

Is she in the hotel room with Trig?

I don't think that Palin is the type of mother that would hide her daughter for her own political gain.

Anybody have a reason that Bristol is not on the campaign trail with her mother?

Disclaimer: This is not picking on the children. But after going through over 100 Palin/McCain pictures, it became more and more evident that the only two children on the campaign are Willow and Piper and occasionally Trig.

Just wondering if she is ill or more interestingly if she does not support her mother. We have had candidates recently whose children would not go on the campaign trail for their parents because although they loved them, they did not support their candidcy.

Yep, she's been put on ice until this whole thing is over.

You've certainly lived up to your screen name. :rotfl2:

Really, who cares?

What difference does it make? Bristol isn't running for office, and at 18, she is an adult (unlike her sisters) and can assumably decide on her own which functions she wants to attend.

The election is about the candidates, and their opinions and policies. Their families, and particularily their adult children, have nothing to do with it. Dick Cheney's gay daughter was irrelevant, and so is Palin's pregnant daughter.

What about her boyfriend, Levi? He is a political prisoner :lmao: He's being forced into a marriage for the greater good. Free Levi! :rotfl2:

Doesn't really matter. Just curious.

There was a lot of talk about a certain candidate in the primaries whose children refused to campaign for him and what it said from the people who knew him the best.

Just wondering if anybody had heard whether she supports her mother as a VP candidate or not.

Believe it or not, as an adult, I respect her opinion on how qualified her mother is. She knows her mother the best and it is always interesting to see what the adult children of the candidates think of their parent's candicy.

I have read Megan McCain blogs about her father and have seen her all over the talk shows, Today, Leno, etc. Bristol is very absent.

Also, if she is purposely being kept from the campaign because her burgeoning belly might offend the conservative voters, that says a lot about the character of the people running.

If all the children were left at home, it would be one thing. But when the pregnant, underage daughter is the only one not on the trail, it makes one wonder the reasons.

And Mary Cheney was out campaigning for her father despite their differences. It said a lot for the campaign that while they disagree on certain issues, she supported her father 100%.

Who cares where she is. Where are Obama's kids? OMG, where, where where?!

Certainly not running around with their baby-daddies, getting pregnant. If they were, Obama would have been kicked off the political stage a long time ago. For some reason Palin gets away with it, she even paraded Bristol's baby-daddy at the convention. Can you imagine if Obama paraded his unwed pregnant teen daughter and her baby-daddy at the convention? It would have been political suicide.

um, how old are they?

That is not what I was getting at and was rather insulting and crude.

I don't like Palin for political reasons.

I think how she has handled her daughter's pregnancy, up front and no shame, very refreshing. (I am also on record, as a working mother with a child with special needs myself, that there is no reason she can't work and still provide excellent care for Trig.)

Which makes it a curiosity that Bristol is not continuing to campaign for her mother. You have McCain's adult daughter, only a couple of years older than Bristol, out there fully supporting her parents.

Chelsea was also always visible on the campaign trail when she was that age.

Just curiosity if there is a political difference between mother or daughter or if McCain is pushing Palin to keep her daughter away.

They wouldn't parade around anywhere, they'd have abortions because Obama doesn't want his daughters punished with a baby.

Things that give me a :headache:

Yesterday there was a thread attacking Palin for bringing her kids on the campaign.

Now we have a thread attacking Palin for not bringing a kid on her campaign.

Which is it?

As for Bristol, after the press craziness about her a few weeks ago, I wouldn't want to be in the limelight either.

I did wonder about it when I saw all the other kids at The Village. I think they don't want to remind people of the pregnant daughter. There are too many conservatives that would condemn most teen pregnancies. They had to announce it and they put a good spin on it and they don't want to talk about it anymore.

While I agree that the kids should be off limits, I don't think teen pregnancies should be. I guess the abstinence only crowd doesn't want to talk about what happens when abstinence doesn't work.

(I can't believe I am posting on a political thread--how low I have sunk:sad2: )

Isn't she a senior in High School? My guess would be that she WANTS to be in school with her friends and in her hometown with her boyfriend/fiancee. I am thinking that she wants to make sure that she graduates with her class and she needs to be in school as much as she can for that to happen.

And even if she is able to travel in her stage of pregnancy, it can be very tiring and draining, and we have no idea if she is having nausea still (I had it all 9 months with both). She may just not feel up to it. I know when I was pregnant, getting dressed up and standing around in all sorts of weather for days and weeks on end would have just been way to much. She is 18--hanging out with the family in the spotlight is the last place a girl her age wants to be.

Don't worry, John, no one is going to make you have an abortion. Relax.

She is not kept away, since she was at her mom's "big speech" at the RNC. I come from a large family and we didn't always travel as a unit. Older kids especially have other obligations and commitments. I'm sure traveling like this is hard on any person, let alone when one is pregnant. Now if Bristol was at every event, people would be asking why a pregnant teen is being dragged all over the country, so she can't please everybody, I'm sure.
