Where you given bad service? And where you using the DDE or a party of more then 5? And did you get your tip reduced by talking to the manager? now that the tip is added on. It has never happened to DW and I. I was just wondering :confused3

We were there 3 mos ago, using DDE card, did not have bad service. In fact, our service at a few places (CG, Jiko and Coral Reef) was probably the best we've ever had at these places.

I've never been asked before the meal if I have a DDE card, so I don't think anyone would be inclined to give me bad service just because I have one.

Yes. At Coral Reef. We had the worst server in the history of restaurants.

We were a party of three on the DDP. The manager said she could not reduce the tip but she finished up our table herself because I refused to continue dealing with our server.

I thought tips were no longer included in the DDP. Has that changed? Or was I misinformed?

The tips are no longer included in the DDP, but they are for the DDE and parties of 6 or more.

My family and I received poor service at Crystal Palace a few years ago and did have the tip reduced by talking to the manager. We were a party of 8.

Rose and Crown. It must have just been an off night. Our server was as nice as she could be.... but the service was really bad (we were a party of 8) and the food wasn't all that impressive. We are on DDP and it was when tip was still included.

Using DDE we walked out of Tune In lounge yesterday. The bartender was so rude and useless we decided we didn't want to give her an automatic tip so we left. First time it's happened to be honest and we've had DDE since it started.

ok everyone......

Tip is not included on the DDP for 2008. on top of that parties of 6 or more are billed tips(out of pocket) at an automatic 18%.....dont think you even have an option with 6 or more. not sure about the DDE plan.

sometimes i feel that if they get an automatic tip(large parties), the servers dont work as hard cause they know they get it anyway. With a smaller party the server may be more attentive to try to get the max tip they could earn because its more of a discretionary tip. Servers can pick up on things like your mood or interaction determining that they are "wasting their time" trying to make your experience great. also remember slow service is not always the servers fault. just being rude is........

DDE is not the same as DDP. Some posters may be confusing the two.

DDE (Disney Dining Experience) is a discount program for annual passholders and Florida residents.

There is an automatic tip (18%) added at table service and lounges for DDE members regardless of the party size. My experience is, though, that the server does not know you have DDE until they bring you the bill (then you give them the card and they get a manager to approve the discount).

There is no automatic tip added for DDP users unless they have a party of 6 or more. All parties of 6 or more have an automatic tip (18%) added.

Was a thing we experienced at Alfredo's each and everytime we dined there.Have not tried the new place now since Alfredo's was closed and reopened under another name.:goodvibes :goodvibes Danny

We have enjoyed many fine meals at WDW, and could only find one restaurant where the service was poor - The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant. We will not schedule that one again.

All the rest are fine, except that we didn't care for the general mood of the Earl of Sandwitch at Disney Downtown. Just didn't seem like Disney somehow.

Technically, Alfredo's is completely gone. Tutto Italia is run by an entirely different corporate entity, so it's not exactly a reopening under another name.

Earl of Sandwich is a chain and it is not owned or run by Disney, so I don't know if I'd expect it to seem "Disney."

Mama Melroses on the Fantasmic package last year. We didn't ge "bad" service from our server, we just didn't get any service. He brought our drinks, took our order and brought our bill. He spend the rest of the 90 minutes talking to two tables of girls in our section.

the worst service for me was tonys town square. no refills no service at all. I did not leave them a tip.

We had incredibly bad service at Boma last November. It may well be the worst service we've ever had anywhere. We had a DDE card, but this predated the mandatory gratuity for the DDE card; however, we were a party of 8, so we got hit with the mandatory gratuity anyway. I did not ask for a manager to get the tip reduced, as my 8 year old was exhausted, my husband was cranky because of the horrid service and we just wanted to get out of there. We usually have adequate service at WDW. We've never had outstanding service, and we've only had really bad service that one time at Boma. When we went back to Boma in March, we had perfectly fine service (from a different waitress).

Not really bad service, but a couple times at Jiko and once at Artist Point, there was definately some slippage and just average service. We also have the DDE card, more often than not receive very good service.

Coral Reef, Sept '07, worst service we have ever had. Server was too distracted flirting with some young girls to wait on us. Never got any drink refills until we had to stop another server. Delivered some other tables meals to us first than gave us all each others meals. Forgot several sides that were included. By the time we got our desserts I think we had been there over 2 hours. The meal itself was very good but the service was horrible.

So on the DDE, which if I understand correctly, is a 20% discount, they automatically add back in an 18% tip?
I can see why they do that in a large group as it "takes up the wait persons time to wait such a large group", but in a smaller group that amazes me!

At Le Cellier a year ago Dec. We were a party of 12 on the meal package and waited over an hour from our apps to the main course. I think our server forgot about us as we never saw her. We had to get our desserts to go and almost run to the American Adventure for the show. The manager ended up refunding all 12 TS credits for the meal and comped the wine. I was so disapointed because Le Cellier is always one of our favourites.
