Where would you stay??

We are thinking of going to Disney the end of October for the weekend. Our daughter is 2 and we want to take her to MK while she is still free.

We are thinking of staying at these two hotels.

1. Comfort Suites Maingate East $70 + per night includes breakfast.
2. Best Western Lakeside $50 + per night additional 10.00 for breakfast.

We are planning to go to travel to Florida on Friday – go to Magic Kingdom for the day on Saturday and then leaving Sunday after lunch at Downtown Disney.

All we are looking for is a safe clean place to stay.

What are your thoughts on these hotels? Do you have any other hotel suggestions?

Never stayed at the Best Western,but I'd say you can't go wrong with the Comfort Suites,pretty new hotel,clean,on 192 but it's tucked back away from the street and a good breakfast.

I've never stayed at either hotel, but a word of caution about taking your 2 year old to Disney. In my mind, there's never a bad reason to go <g>, but your 2 year old will likely not remember much of it, and 2 is not the ideal age to take a child if that's going to be your only trip there with her.

I have a piece of personal video tape that will always stick in my mind when people ask what is a good age to take their child for the first time. We took our son, Luke, then almost two and half (now 21), to Disney for his first time. The video is of the 3pm daily parade in the Magic Kingdom. It really should be one of the highlights of a first trip to the Magic Kingdom for any child. Well, as the last set of characters paraded past us, I turned the camera on my son in his stroller and asked, "Well, Luke, what did you think of the parade?". There he was.....sound asleep!

So, if you just want to go, you should definitely go. We have no regrets about that trip, or ANY trip we've taken to Disney. However, we live only 4 hours away, and we've been many, many times since then. Our boys both still love it there and they're grown men now. BUT, if this is a once in a lifetime trip for you and your child, consider waiting just a few more years so she'll have a memory of it forever.

DH and I have stayed at Comfort Suites Maingate East 3 times. We liked it. I have nothing negative to say about it. The breakfast buffet is excellent. 70 dollars is a good price for it.

I've stayed in Best Western Lakeside. It's a nice place. Very convenient for WDW. Close enough for afternoon breaks. You probably can't go wrong with either choice.

I have taken both of my girls to Disney for their first time when they were each 2 almost 3. Since I have been to Disney several times with my girls that are now ages 4 and 7 I highly reccomend staying on site. And MK is a great place for little ones. The convenience of on site with a child that small cannot be beat. After a long day grab food from the food court and take it back to the room and relax. Then enjoy an afternoon dip in the pool. It's also important that you realize that you will not get to see everything in a day and don't try to do MK comando style with a 2 year old. I spend no more than 5 or 6 hours a day in a park with my kids. I feel so bad for little ones when I see them crying becasue they are so tired. And if you're staying on site it is easy to do a mid day nap and return to the park later.
It is so worth the extra money to stay on site with a child that young. Rent the on site strollers dont hasstle with lugging around yours. And do a character meal small kids don't want to wait in long lines to see them.
But remember to have fun.

P.S. I forgot to mention.
I have no problem with off site. I am staying off site for the first time in January. I choose off site this time because I am ready to try something new and I am not doing Disney only. I just know that with my experiances when my kids were that little I was thankful I stayed on site. I love the moderate resorts. But several love Pop.
