DH and I have fallen in love with Charleston, S.C. and plan to retire there. Just can't take any more of these New England winters.

DH can retire from the Gov't. in just 8 years! I told him the day he retires is the day I return to work FULL TIME! He'll drive me nuts!

We wouldn't mind retiring to Florida at all!

Time will tell.

We are retiring in 6 years and moving somewhere in the Southeast. We love Asheville, NC, but also Northeast Georgia and parts of SC. We want a place with lower real estate prices than we have here. We have a ton of equity in our house, and hope to cash out a place so we have no mortgage payment. We are taking a road trip out there next summer to fall to narrow our search. Actually, we plan to fly to Atlanta, then rent a car and tour GA, NC, SC, VA, maybe TN, and anywhere else we have time for. I am tired of Colorado winters and want to be within driving distance to WDW. Stephen will only be 49 when he retires from the phone company and plans to start his teaching career when we move. So, we need a place where it's pretty easy to become certified. He has a bachelor's in Psychology. He's already looked into it in Georgia. I will not be working. I plan to volunteer and get involved in local theater. I am sooo looking forward to moving.

Retire???? That might have been a plan a few years ago but with the economy the way it is and all this deficit spending/personal debt/corporate debt/government debt, leading to financial uncertainty, I'm planning on developing a service/business where I may be able to work part-time but for a long time.

NO plans to retire. I love my work and feel that I'm MORE proficient as I get older. :D:D.............

DH and I will split our time between here in St. Croix and Maine. We're (hopefully) going to be buying property in the "Down East" area of Maine soon.

I really like the idea of spending summers and fall up there and the winters and spring down here.

DH and I plan on retiring in about 12 years. Right now our plan is staying in Michigan during the summers and definetly going to Florida in the winters.:D

Tennessee is the plan...although I know the final decision will be based on where our kids live. I really want to know my grandchildren, if the Lord blesses me with grandchildren. We plan on buying a 'vacation' home in TN once our current home is paid off. I will never fully retire, but I have 25yrs till I can leave my current job....a lot can change by then.

The sooner can get out of England the better but its still 25 years away. Don't get me wrong I do like the English countryside and history but it is what the government are doing and how the youth of today act that we don't want to be here when the country self destructs.
Onto a lighter note again when we do get to escape full time it will be somewhere in the US, possibly Florida or California.
Claire :D

Florida!:D

We have already bought the condo (14 years ago in fact) and the plan is to spend at least 6 months there to get away from our awful Canadian Winters!!

I can't wait! (Well..I can because I will be older...but you know what I mean!);)

I'm starting to get info on all the different areas. I like Tarpon Springs, though. My DH & I are 30 but plan to have a 2nd home there by the time we're 35 & rent it out as a second source of income before retiring to it.

Probably just to our house and farm right here in Iowa. After all, it IS almost heaven ("Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa . . .;) ;) ")

But I'd love to go to someplace like Arizona -- warm, sunny, and no ragweed . . . :(

We will be doing a semi retirement in Costa Rica starting next spring. :D

I want to stay right where I have already established friendships, volunteer activities etc. Starting all over in retirement doesn't appeal to me at all. Hopefully with our mortgage paid off and friends in place to trade housesitting, dogwatching etc. with - we'll be in a great position to spend lots of time traveling.

I can't wait to retire:D We have about 15-20 years to go, but I imagine we'll be within driving distance of WDW.
