Where were you when you heard the Queen had died?

At work yesterday afternoon. A co-worker informed me and we turned on the TV to NBC, which broke into regular programming with the news.

At work - I teach high school history. I had the BBC live feed up on my computer and was keeping an eye on things all day.

I still remember where I was when Pope John Paul II, MJ, etc. died. I'm know I'll never forget ERII either!

At home. I read here on the DIs about the family being called to Balmoral, and turned on BBC America from there.

At home on the DIS community board--I had read earlier that the family had been called to Balmoral, and knew something serious was happening. It was when I saw the updated thread about the Queen on this board, that I knew she had passed :(

I was at home. My husband and I were working on closing the pool and a couple hours later when I went into the house and turned on the tv I saw the news.

I was in a meeting when I got the notification. We were on laptops and we all got the news desktop notification at the same time, so the meeting (it wasn't an important meeting thankfully) devolved into talking about it. It was surreal.

I was working which has been at home since Covid and one of my
co-workers sent an instant message letting us know.

I was running a reading group in my classroom. My friend has been off work all week with an injured knee, so she was home watching TV. She texted me as soon as it was announced and I saw it on my Apple watch.

I don't know, I don't know when she passed.

I don't get the fascination. I got a family group text from my daughter in school, "Hey y'all, the Queen died!" I was like, the queen of what?

i‘m sorry it’s beyond you to understand the interest in a woman who has served her country and the entire commonwealth for over 70 years. A Queen who has lived through and created so much history - 15 prime ministers and 14 presidents - who remained a stable influence for many people around the world.

I was watching the BBC streaming online when they broke into their own broadcast to announce her passing and then played the national anthem. It was very moving.

I don't remember where I was when the Pope died, but I do remember I was walking through the student center at Georgia Tech on a tour when the white smoke came out when they had chosen Benedict as the next one.

At DHS watching the Indiana Jones stunt show. My sister sent me a FB messenger message that showed up on my smart watch. After the show, DH and I got some ice water then got in line for Star Tours. While in line, I decided we should hop over to Epcot to visit the UK pavilion as a way of showing respect.
